My Pops always used enamel on engines. Theoretically it bakes itself on. I use Rustoleum because it's hi quality, goes on thick from the bug bomb can and matches better than anything else I could find.

HOTRODPAINT, yeah like I said, I dont know who applied this paint and what they did but you are probably right any then again when the owner of this vehicle pulled up, the engine was overheating (shooting out coolant) and the hood was blistering hot! The fenders were not as hot and were not bubbling and also the car has had the paint on for over a year or two (definetely over a year because I have been there for a year and it was painted before I was ever there). The guy also took the insulation off underneath the hood so that didn't help with heat and I am thinking that maybe the fiberglass got so hot that it had some kind of reaction under the hood...??? I don't know, I am not saying your wrong at all because you know MUCH more about this than me. As far as the engine paint, I learned something new. I have always thought you needed to buy heat paint but I guess not. Glad to know this too, might be cool to do some messing around with on my 66 when I repaint it and just do the block at the same time.
