    Unhappy im stumped

Ive been working on my 53 f100 for 5 years or so now and im 21.
ive basicly doing it alone and now i think im ready for paint but i got a couple holes that need to be filled but i imagine a body shop can do that. And now the paint guy i had lined up and really trusted retired and the guy that took over raised the price $5000.

So im asking what is a normal price for a basic paint job with some lines down the side, and does anyone know a good paint shop around ventura county, ca,

This is makeing me depressed and its becomeing overwhelming and i i just dont know what to do anymore.

    Please help

Hard to say without seeing it. If you still have holes that need filling, I would imagine it probably needs a bunch of other work.

See if the guy who was going to do it can recomend someone to do it. If he was in the shop biz long enough to retire, I would imagine he knows a lot of others in the body shop biz.

A normal price for a basic paintjob goes from two or three hundred at Maaco, to $5000 at a quality shop, if it's a Ferrari restorer it's probably north of $10,000, and if the artwork goes too high on the insanity meter, it's another $5,000-10,000.....Oh yeah, If it's someone on TV, double the cost! :-)~

It all depends on materials cost, (which varies widely), What kind of vehicle, (some are much harder), the experience and talent of the painter (which goes from monkey to Michelangelo), and what it will be used for (beater or Pebble Beach Concours).

You will rarely get more than you pay for, but it's easy to find painters who give you less than you paid for. There is always someone who will do it for a lower price, but you should plan on getting less for the money!

You need to decide what it will be used for, and what you are willing to spend, then take the time to check the guy out with previous customers, to see how they were treated.

I think that covers it! :-) Good luck.
