I've used airbrushes from hardware store cheapies to top-dollar "all the bells and whistles" ones. The main thing is learning the ins and outs of each one. I noticed the cheaper they are, the more sensitive they are to air pressure fluctuations. The first, cheapest one I had is still the best for really fine lines, go figure.
