Thanks, un-sane. It's not the cheapest, easiest way, but I don't think you can do any better for long life.
Both of the cars I mentioned were originally done with black epoxy primer, which only lasted about 3-4 years before turning gray and chalky.
You have to remember that primer was never meant to be used as a topcoat, to stand up to the sunlight, or hold it's color.
