    por 15

I have used por 15 for several years off and on. I know a lot of people swear by it
but everything I used it on was sold or traded so I do not know how it really holds up . I read somwehere that you could top coat it with something other than the por 15 line of tie coat if you did it in a certain time frame . Also the por 15
tech says that you can put filler directly on it . My question is can you put adhesive on it . I am getting ready to to cover my runningboards for my 40 fords coupe and thought that it might be a good idea to
coat them with por15 . The instructions for the covers says to apply the adhesive directly to the bare metal . the adhesive they sent is just ordinary glue that you would buy at a hardware store to put on laminate tops , it is not even the good stuff. thanks Darin

As you might already know...make sure the surface to be painted is ROUGH!!! I'd blast the section to be covered with Black Beauty or equal because any smooth or shiney surface won't hold the Por15 and will peel right off in sheets along with your running board covers!! As far as duability...it's goog for years unless exposed to sunlight...fades. They make a UV over coat.

The surface after being sandblasted need to be treated with METAL-READY to etch the surface for the POR-15. POR-15 is UV sensitive and needs to be topcoated unless it's not going to be exposed to direct sunlight.
The adhesive question is kinda hard to answer as you really have no idea of the checmical make up for the adhesive. POR-15 is a moisture cure urithaine and some adhesive may not adhere very well. I'd suggest testing the adhesive on a test panel first.

    Good Luck.
