Color so fun, color in the sun
The color does not fade, no not, even in shade!
That shade of blue, the shade is true, yet the shade is divine the hue is fine.
It leaves me wishing it was complete and...

Also got the gear splitter in and went down to Home Depot and got some waterproofing stain and sealer, had them blacken it up as dark as they could get it and slapped some on the wood mounting blocks for the cab and bed. Need to get some nord locks or something and get new headers mounted so we can fix up the exhaust when cab drops back on.

Interesting! I had no idea that it had wood blocks to mount the cab & bed to the frame! Was there any thought given to using a fabricated C channel with welded nuts for mounting? Just curious, and keeping the wood blocks may be the only good way to do it.Roger

Seemed easier and cheaper to just buy wood blocks, Probably the same reason they did it then? Fills the void, frames are the same for coupes, sedans and trucks. We could of built some standoffs I guess. Here is a quick older pic of one of the original one piece blocks sitting on the frame, I just got the cheaper 3 piece ones now. I posed the question to Navy7797 who got his '40 pickup on the road a while back, and he confirmed that he'd done the same, making new wood spacers atop the frame between both cab & bed. That feature wasn't planted in my memory and just made me wonder why not steel? Like you said, Henry did it, it worked and it's not too difficult to fabricate. Thanks for the reply.

I'm always interested in details, and I learned that indeed the coupe, sedan & 1/2 Ton Pickup all had a common frame. However, the pickup cab and bed were designed to fit the heavier frames of the larger capacity trucks. To make them fit the lighter frame, the 1/2 Ton base model used wood spacers on the car frame. Henry was always thinking, and I'd bet that those wood spacers on the 1/2 Ton pickups were made from wood salvaged from shipping pallets!! I recall that at some point Ford specified that the pallets for materials shipped to their factory were to be white oak at least 1" thick. He then used the pallet wood for some of the internal structural wood on the cars, like framing door panels.Roger

I had to do a little catching up on this build, WOW it's turning out soo beautiful! The filler on the cab looks exactly like my 53 did, they were defiantly used as pickups them, more dents than straight Those old gauges are so beautiful, makes modern gauges look kind of sad.

So installing the trex bed wood got me thinking about all the heat from the exhaust and the possible melting of the wood. Also noticed the floor on the passenger side getting hot on a warm day. So...
