Sorry to bump an old thread but I didn't want to start up a whole new one with a newbie question. I'm still trying to decide what make/model/year to go with and I've been pretty open but last night I came across an article about old muscle cars and the best models to get for restorations. I'm not necessarily sold on a muscle car because, in general, they don't quite have as classic a look as I had in mind. But one of the aspects that has me considering a '60s muscle car is that they seem to have better parts availability than most (or all) classic hot rods. Is this a correct deduction or are their classic hot rod models that have better parts availability than say a Mustang? Maybe a simpler question: which classic hot rods are good buys for easy parts availability?

You probably know the Grand National Roadster Show is coming up at the end of the month in Pomona. I think you said you went last year, but it's a good place to help you narrow down your likes and dislikes of various cars.
The Pomona Swap Meet is this Sunday, Jan 15, which also has a cars for sale section, where you can explore options.
There is a decent amount of aftermarket support for both classics and muscle cars, depending on your fabrication skills and the kind of project you end up choosing.

If you find a specific car you're interested in, I'm sure you'd get tons of advice & things to be aware of from the wide knowledge & experience of the guys here. Good luck. Keep us posted...
