New Member / 1st time hot rod build - in Los Angeles seeking advice and mentorship
Hi all,
New to town, and living in Santa Monica.
Been building out my 68 nova in Missouri for the last cpl years and due to some unforeseen circumstances I had to bring her out to LA. Im new here and looking for advice on and recommendations for a serious tuner and a solid general mechanic. Some people that I can work with for years to come.
The car was originally built for the track - 468, dart II heads, drag link, full strange rear end (3.50 gear / 35 spline axels), 4 alum. speed muncie, qa1 full pro-coil setup etc...
Long story short, I'm at 85% and need help to get to the finish line.
I need some transmission work, a mini tub, a complete engine tune/assessment, and a full re-wire: all gauges etc.... not sure what if any major overhauls i will do to the interior but right now i want it mechanically sound at a very high end.
Finishing this car out in the way it deserves requires a skill set that is way beyond my abilities, I am only medium proficient but learning daily. I've worked with a lot of mechanics of the years, some quite good. The engine work is top notch and everything else has varied greatly. I'm looking for best in category or close to it, willing to pay for the quality but obviously not looking to get rubbed.
I want it built out so that I can drive it a couple times a week for now and down the road it will turn to a track only car. For now - violently fast and reliable is the goal .....yea I know, those two aren't really neighbors but....
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Weldon, I can't help you with any leads on quality shops in the SOCAL/Santa Monica area, but I can say welcome to the forum, and I look forward to seeing the NOVA go from 85% to done! Glad to have you here.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.
