When I was a youngster working for a Caterpillar dealer in Charlotte, NC, one of my tasks was to drive the brand new 1967 Chevy six-cylinder, three-speed stepside pickup down to the bus station to pick up packages. I fell in love with the way that truck performed and it set the stage for the many Chevy pickups that I owned later in life, most of them shortbed stepsides. The last one I owned was a '73 292 with granny 4-speed that I bought for $1000 and put a clutch in, along with all new clutch actuation linkage. That truck was smooth as silk.
