...from Hawaii
Just joined. Been collecting parts for my 'last car' for a while now. Really don't have much, but it's going to be a '32 roadster when it's all done. Very custom. Many one off machined parts. Lots of horsepower, etc.
I built custom cars and motorcycles for a number of years and then moved to Hawaii in search of better weather than Michigan could offer. Car projects are much more expensive and take much more time, but the payoff is living in paradise!
Here's our bikes (wife's and mine):
I'll start a build log in the appropriate section and hope everyone can check it out and offer advise.

Tried to start a build log... link approval takes a couple days it seems, so I put a photo on the gallery and linked it - also requires approval? Sheesh. Will this end at some point?

Yes, it'll end. It's because of spammers so once "we" (the mods) get to know you.. they'll lift the restriction(s).
It was said that there's a 10 post trial period, you're at 6 so maybe??? LOL.. Bear with it.. we're worth it! roflmao....

Ok, I'll just post here for a bit.
Big news is - I just found the serial number on my frame. Really thought it would be too rusty - but just got lucky. Turns out its a super low # V8 frame. #1889 to be exact!

Very nice bikes and looking forward to the 32 build. I bet it is a different deal to try to build projects in Hawaii. I doubt there are any laying around for parts either. Do you do other hot rod work out of your shop there?Ryan

I do a little work here and there, but you are correct, there isn't much out here. I'm on the Big Island, so total population is only about 175k here. The salt in the air pretty much kills everything that is left outside.
My real job is working as an instrument designer/machinist at Canada France Hawaii Telescope. Hot rods and bikes have taken back the position as 'hobby' and I think that is a good thing.

I was in Hawaii a few years back, ran into a guy and his girl friend that were nuts about street rods and old cars. He explained that they found several that had been abandoned and had been sitting for years in a field and no one seemed to know who owned them. I wish I had got his contact information now, wonder if he ever found a car? Looking forward to seeing what you are working on.Ed in Jeffersonville, IN
