The new person

Well here I am to "check in." I am 16 years old and I live in North Carolina. I am into old cars a lot, especially Mercury's or 37 Chevy trucks. I also am into riding MX or FMX (dirtbikes) I do not have a car/truck yet but still need the money and time and still looking for one. It's hard to find one out here in NC that I wan't without 4 doors. Umm.... Yeah well I don't know EVERYTHING about hot rodding but am taking auto tech classes right now and going to community collede either this year or next after my welding classes for as much auto tech and auto body (collision repair) as possible. Well that's basically all I can think of at the moment so if there is anything else anyone would like to know then let me know and I will answer the best I can. Take it easy.

You should be able to find Chevelles pretty easily in South Carolina.

Yeah I guess.... I am about 15 minutes from the South Carolina border. I don't really wan't a Chevelle though because everyone has those and I would like something different. Don't get me wrong though, they are bitchin' car's. Also I got one question that I decided I might as well throw up in this thread.... How come when I post to a thread I won't get an Email telling me that someone has replied to it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, I guess ur right, there are many Chevelles. May I suggest an older British sports car, there pretty cool, you could probably drive a MGB home for about 1200 - 3500 for ones that are in good shape, I myself might be getting a 1973 Triumph Spitfire just to drive around in but my main project will probably be a 1967 GMC 3/4 4X4 truck , the only reason I'm suggesting British sports cars is, you don't see them everyday ( at least where I live ) and they get good gas mialage, and many come without radio's or heaters or vent systems of any kind cause, there made to be light, fo instance the Triumph Spitfire is 2750 LBS. There are other cars that are good, that are american, what about Corvaires? Chop Top '46 Ford, 1950's F100's. I too wanted to be diffrent so, I bought the '83 Benz ( no longer a project for this year ) and had hopes of putting a Chevy 350 in it but, found out there were more V8 powered 240D's than I thought and, I lost compleat and all interest in it, now I just want to outfit it with a Ford 302 and C4 and stick a 4 Sale sign on it when that's done next year.

WHAT KIND OF BIKE DO U HAVE?

Heck, I never knew what a Triumph was until 6'th grade and, I never knew what a Spitfire was until I was searching through a local listing and found the '73 I said and it was listed for 100 bucks, seemed an interesting price for a British car so, I went to Ebay and found pics of them, I thought they were the early Triumph Econobox car designed for really really good MPG but, It is a nice little 2 seat roadster with a real wood dash, no raido or vent system, just the convertible top. I told my mom about it and she said, I could have told you that, cause she test drove 2 of them and an MGB b4 she decided that her first car should be a 1969 Opel GT 1900, which she also test drove. the Spitfires were rated for over 35 MPG. Oh, that's another car you should look for an Opel GT, there American, where they were sold by buick. I have only seen 1 GT in real life so, there not very common, There powered by a 1900cc 4 Cyl, they look like a Mini Corvette, my mom said she went through Canada to Mischagan doing 120 MPH daily with hers.

Anyone know if this is any good? I don't care for the style but what about chop top and limo tint, take the front bumper off, maybe flat black or gloss black paint with metallic blue flames and some double wides with some nice looking rims.... don't know what kind yet I would be stuck between 2 or 3 of them..... Anyone got any pics of these fixed up?

I think that Williys has potential but, you would have to lower it a little, chop the top compleatly off but turn into hard top convertiebal and paint it Midnight blue with dark blue custom interior, you would also have to replace that old drivetrain with a 350 and a 4 spd.

Sounds like youhave a great plan for your future. Heck I am 54 years old and am taking a Community college body work class right now! Got some other older guys like me doing it as a hobby and some younger guys like you learning to make a living. Our instructor says he can place anyone who gets their certification, the body shops are crying for well trained people.

That old Jeep locks interesting, definitely not something you see everyday as a hot rod. Should have plenty of room and options to go custom, pro street or some combination of the two.

P.S. By the way the Opel GTs are actually German cars, made in Germany, sold in the USA by Buick. They are neat little cars, I've seen them with small blocks in them, but it is a lot of engineering work to do it well.

I actully did know that but, I thought it would be OK to consider them American because they were sold in Buick dealerships. They resemble late 60's early 70's Corvettes so well, it almost seems that they were modeled after them, Are they really? I once saw one on Ebay that had a 231 Buick V6 and sidepipes but, other than that everything was compleatly stock, even the raido. My mom actually had 2 Gt's She had the '69 that she paid 3200 for used in 1971 and, my dad bought her a '70 in the early 80's for a grand.

About the guy asking what kind of bike I have... if you mean dirt bike then I got a 02' YZ 125 and getting a 250 and a CRF 50. Also about the notify of reply thing... That's cool information but, are there gas tanks replaceable? or are they stuck there "Forever". I think there really neat little cars, and there pretty rare around here, I only seen 1 in real life, that was in the town about 10-15 miles from my house, It's still at that house to.

Oh, and FMX, being ur talking about Dirt Bikes, I have a 1978 Suzuki DS 100 that I paid 30.00 for at a yard sale, it diddn't run but, it did after I changed the spark plug, the people who had it couldent figure out why it wouldn't run, now that it runs, it starts 1'st kick if it ran in the last approx 2 weeks or 3 kicks if it sat for a month, that's one good smooth running motor to. I also got 1 dirt bike motor question, my dad has a 1978 Suzuki DS 125 but, now when you hammer on it, it sometimes bogs way down and actully cuts out compleatly, it kinda sounds like it's loosing preassure or sorta flooding up but, it always starts right back up, got any ideas on what it could be? Also, when you start it cold it wont begin to want to start up until anywares from 6- 25 kicks and, it will idle cold but not hot.
