Can't do it for many reasons, but one being I only have a peak of 320 hp (said I gave up a lot for the torque) and that number starts tapering off after 4050 rpms. One weird engine, huh? One positive outcome is I've gotten over 30 mpg on my last trip to LA. But when it comes to freeway speed roll on in top gear, rather pedistrian when the engine starts a 65 mph roll on at 1650 rpms. What is positive (see, so many trade offs) at 120 mph in top gear I'm at 2800, my torque peak and it is fun to slowly creep up to 120 mph with a passenger, he comments "****, your going 120", and you reply "want faster? I can downshift for you" as you have rolled everything on in 6th and its pulling like crazy, and your soon to be ex-friend screams "slow down" which you do by lifting and compression slowing (OK, by doing that he is still your friend), and he is left wondering just how insane the acelleration could have been if you downshifted, not knowing that with such low rpm torque, the pull would be greater at that speed staying in 6th. The stories your friend will tell in front of other folks at social gatherings could make Donald Trump blush. People are just used to rides that have a peak torque around 4400 rpms, and incorrectly think that if a ride could pull so hard in top gear at 120, what would it have felt like by just dropping a gear? Truth be told, by dropping a gear it would have been LESS impressive, but that is always my little secret, so don't tell my friends, OK?Last edited by deckofficer; 07-23-2011 at 10:42 PM.

Welcome to the sight Bob. Where's 153? I don't recall that one. My favorite local ride highway is highway 20 from Nevada City to the coast. We call it the shake and bake ride when we do it on the Harleys! Like your track roadster a whole heck of a lot!

A belated "Welcome aboard".
Cool lookin' tracker, and good discussion on the grunt vs. hp and it's real world affects. You should fit in just fine.
Well, you'll fit in if you take heed to one thing. Beating dead horses, or berating other equine species won't get you in too much trouble, but the passing of a cat on here is a VERY solemn occasion. So back off on that swingin' of the carcass thing!
We've got a rather aged member here from South Florida. He's our version of the crazy cat lady down the street. I don't see any posts here from him, so you're probably already in deep poop..................but then you're from California, so expectations are already low.
The site is small, so it's easier than some other places to put your oar in the water and not be ignored. You've already seen we even give equal time to the Kiwis. You do know they're all insane.........................that's why we keep them on those small islands down there. And don't believe anything bad Whip says about me, he's a pathological liar (though he's got a heart of gold)..............especially if he mentions something about people from Washington being stump broke or whatever.............but I've got pictures of him with sheep.........................

For the older gentleman in South Florida, this is the truth, I love all animals and have owned cats and dogs. I just got back from a week in Mountain Home, Arkansas (BucketHead Bash) and I'm still talking a bit folksy. So truly disregard the swinging of.....
And in defense of Whip, I hear the sheep in his neck of the woods are the agressors.Last edited by deckofficer; 07-25-2011 at 02:21 PM.
