    new guy northern ohio

Hello all. My name is -Hadyn- I stumbled across this site while looking for information on narrowed ifs suspension and it brought me to v8notchmans build which is as different as it is the same as what I have planned.
    here's my 64 notchback:

Its currently got a 4cyl water cooled motor in it mated to the stock type 3 trans. I plan to place the turbo vr6 out of my gti in it. I have alot of speedbumps to overcome along the way. I am a veteran fabricator but new to any sort of american suspensions or transmissions. Sorry in advance for any annoying or stupid questions I may ask along the way. Just bear with me or tell me to go pound salt, either way I am much appreciative of constructive criticism and am more than willing to learn anything anyone is willing to teach me.

Sorry I had organized my photobucket. I'll fix my pictures. Its a 64 vw notchback 1500s. I'm not putting a v8 into it which would fit in here quite a bit more but rather a turbo vr6 motor. Its a 2.8l narrow angle (15*) v6. Not much in displacement but it will get the job done with a motor I understand and help keep the car a bit more balanced as i'd still like to autocross it from time to time. Haven't really decided as to how I am going to build the frame yet. My biggest challenge will be adapting my transmission to the engine. After that i'll start working out the rest of the details. I've got alot of reading and brain picking to do still as well. This will be my first real rwd project let alone chassis fab project. I am an engineering student and work full time as an industrial maint tech. So welding and fabricatiing are some things that I do on a daily basis.

Thanks for the greetings. What year is your square? How far along are you?

    Oh there they go.
Thanks for the welcome guys. V8square I saw your build and it looks like its coming along nicely. What are you using for a front suspension? You are way farther along than I am. My pan is still under my car but I just got the first piece to my puzzle the other day and am hoping to get cracking on it very soon. The first thing I have to overcome is adapting the trans a chose to my motor. I got a tr6060 out of a 2010 challenger. After sitting out in the garage with it, the old bellhousing from the transverse transmission, a pile of measuring devices, and a notepad I feel I have a good plan of attack for that and if all else fails I will give a call to quick time.
