Welcome Phil, I'm a newbie here too.
It's a great site, I'm more of a lurker than a poster.
They're a friendly bunch, just watch that lamin8r chap.
Ross
Hey Phil,I absolutely love it, and it is so different it is cool. Can you remember the black one originally built down in Dunedin that was powered by a Corvair horizontally opposed 6 cylinder. It was also in the ownership of a friend of my and I was lucky enough to do some panelwork on it. It had a early Victor rap around windscreen moulded in as the rear window. Boy that thing could get up and go.
Thats the first decent pic I have seen of that Phil...Will look pretty kool when you are done..But..you are gunna need some cycle fenders for that beastie..I just happen to know a guy who does 36 Ford cycle fenders in GLASS,that would look good on that..
what be this "glass" you speak of?? nothing but spun beauties for this beast :D
Whiplash, never heard of that one at all. Sounds like a heap of fun.
If I get sick of a lack of power down the track, there is plenty of room between the front rails for a proper engine
Hey Ross. Yip always got an eye on him... he's always after my stash of rice pudding **):3dSMILE:
Thanks for the welcome everyone
When I get round to it i'll chuck up a bit of a build thread.
Cheers
Bullitz
Welcome aboard Phil.
Remember .. plenty of pics required.
This must be a Kiwi thread.
I joined in May 04.
Most Kiwis I've seen in one thread ...
What's with all the bugs in your pic anyway?
Always had a vw of some sort in the garage and also for the last 2 1/2 years i've been sharing a workshop with a mate who has a vw restoration business.
Makes for an interesting open day. When we do have them the carpark always has a good mixture of vw's and hotrods.
Cheeky spinner,you..Rice pudding,,,you know what you can do with that....
johnboy that is funny:LOL::LOL:
Maybe an old box of Taranaki Ale from the '70's
mmm. Speights!!
Cant believe you drank it Johnboy. Im coming back next year... nevermind, i'll bring more and a few extras.
Funny thing, straight after the quake the missus started walking home from the hospital. She had to walk past the brewery that had spilled its guts. So while wading through a nice mixture of liquifaction, sewage and beer she suddenly had visons of Homer Simpson, doing backstroke in it. :D
Hey guys,we will have our brothers in the USA thinking we are all soaks over here, but can anybody remember Southland Bitter, yack, one would not even use it as parts cleaner.
The Taranaki ale was the standard drink on offer when I visited the Naki.
I guess now, that they never drank it themselves, but saved it for visitors.
Now Leopard Lager. That, my friends, was a real drink .. :HMMM::HMMM::HMMM:
I consumed so much of it over the years that I think I owned the brewery ..:D
I doubt it - many of us like to have a bucket o' suds occasionally. Here in Upstate New York we have a beer maker that makes a nice one called Genesee Cream Ale. It bites the unexpected and I like it and keep a case (of 30) on hand for when friends and relative appear and are thirsty. Most will drink one just to be sociable:p:LOL:
Never had any NZ beer. The closest I've come is an Aussie Fosters, but I think it's brewed here in the US.
Back in the early '70s as a young sailor stationed in Hawaii we used to drink Primo beer. At $3 a case we learned to like it.
San Miguel in the PI was especially nasty the morning after a night on the town.
Back in the 90s,the Hot rod Cafe,in Hawaii, had Steinlager on tap..a good Kiwi beer for you.Its just not fair...I have drunk gallons of Millers, half gallons of Budweisers, and not much else of your beer,,but it doesnt sound like NZ beer has found its way up there in any decent quantity..I think Squeak used to have some at Kiwi Thursdays at his shop,though.. How did this start??Oh yes...bullitz and his darn Speights..:LOL:
I found an excellent American beer in a pub in Los Angeles.
I'd asked the barman for his darkest beer and he came up with a bottle called "Arrogant Bastard".
Interesting name; tried two or three and then stood up to leave.
Whoa world!
Man that stuff had a kick...just as well I hadn't sampled more!
:HMMM:
Must have been like Skull Splitter I once made the mistake of "sampling" in Scotland's Orkney's :LOL: 8.5% 'racing fuel': http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/118/402
If you like really dark ales and can find it Boulevard Brewery here in KC has a new "Smoke Stack Series" with some great brews. One is "Dark Truth Stout" which is a 9.7% ABV ale, and the 2011 version of their "Imperial Stout" will release in a few days at 11% ABV!!
http://www.boulevard.com/
The Smoke Stack Series comes in 4 packs at about US$10, so they are a special occasion ale vs the supermarket sale suds
