German Hot-Rod builder
Hi @ll,
I am from germany. I searching parts and informations for my first Hot Rod Project.
My English is not perfect, I hope it is ok for you.
My first V8 was an yellow Chevy El Camino in 1995 with a 299" small block.
Now I want to build a 1932 old style Coupe on a 1947 Rover 10 chassi.
Last week i buyed a perfekt one. It have 4 Drumbrakes and 4 leaf springs. The previous owner had placed to test a roadster car body on it. The photos persuaded me and therefore I bought the Chassi.
I hope I will find here many tips tricks and information to complete my project.
Stephan

Wilkommen Stephan, I'm sure that your english is better than almost anyone here's German. That chassis looks like it will make a great rod. The folks here are very helpful and willing to share their knowledge. You must have it rough trying to round up parts for a project like that. I wish you the best of luck. Keep the pictures coming. This looks like it will be a very unique '32!

hi @ll, thanks to you all for this very nice welcome greetings.
I like the Idea to build an unique rod. I am glad about your help and will make many pictures of the rebuilding as a thank you!
@Evolvo
Yes you see right. But I will change them for hydraulic brakes with brake booster. Probably I will also insert a Ford rear axle. I do not think that the Rover axle is made for V8 power
I am really envious if I see your rods here. In Germany we have so many regulations for the licensing.

Rodrunner: You have all the basics for an absolutely unique rod. I have a few suggestions you might find helpful...The 32 grille shell is nice, I think you would be happier if you cut a 5" section out of it so it doesn't sit higher than the cowl. Find a 70's era Mopar 318 radiator to fit under it, trim that sheet metal from in front of the crossmember so the radiator can sit down between the frame rails. You can visit a muffler shop and get a piece of tailpipe bent to traansfer water around the crossmember, connecting a radiator hose to each end of it. The radiator will still be behind the front of the tires so it will look right. the frame horns look like the original 32s, which is great, but lose those giant friction shocks in favor of some small tubular ones. Wrap those with chrome tape if you're tight on money.
Just some ideas............... Chester Greenhalgh

Very cool project, hope to see some progress pics real soon. If you can't find certain parts that you need for your build do not hesitate to post some wanted ads in the parts wanted section of this forum.
As for tips on building your car, build it the way you want to! If you plan on keeping it there is no reason to compromise on your build style
ThomasMe: I don't know how to build a hot rod.
Old Hot Rodder: You ever build a model car?
Me:Yeah...
Old Hot Rodder: Well instead of using glue you weld.

Chester Hello, thank you for your support! Unfortunately I did not understand everything. The Grill on the photo was not mine. I had ordered a new one which was yesterday picked up at customs. I am always glad to brainstorming, but it is difficult for me to translate this technical things into German.
@ Thomas, thank you, too. Unfortunately, my style needs to adapt to the requirements of the German technical inspection (TÜV). ;-)Last edited by Rodrunner; 01-07-2010 at 01:39 AM.

Thanks to you two guys! Larry I searched with google for parts and pictures. Then I found this great forum. In germany we have only GSRA (German Street Rod assosiation) and a big 1/4 mile racing Forum. I have not found a German forum, with so much information and nice people like this one.
I have a question too. Does you make a big Forum meeting, for example, once a year?Last edited by Rodrunner; 01-08-2010 at 11:31 AM.

I'm glad to see that you have found us. We are a very friendly forum though occasionally we do have some differences of opinion
When you consider the size of the USA and Canada(almost 20million sq km vs Germany at 544000) which make up most of our membership, it would be very difficult to have a big Forum meeting. What many try to do is to meet up with a friend or several at some of the big car meets like NSRA or Goodguys.Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

Welcome Stephan to Club Hotrod from North Carolina USA.
I was in Germany in the early 70's and worked part time in a small garage in Baumholder while in the military. I was amazed at the knowledge the people have about building cars and hotrod.
Check around with some of the old timers in garages and ask questions, I am sure some of them still have lines on American parts.
Good luck with your project and keep the pictures coming. This will be an interesting build to follow.

well I decided to do another mod to gain max travel of bars past the intended travel points just for that peace of mind. 1/8 inch is to close so now I'll have 1/2" or better. I cut a 3/16" wall...
