    Hello from E. Tennessee!!!

Hi everybody. I just joined yesterday after looking around for a while. I'm a custom painter (shop owner) and certified welder. Had my share of rides, 66 427 vette roadster, 71 Nova bigblock Pro-street, 1st series 54 Chevy pick-up (348 w/2-4's and 700r-4)that never got completed , then a bone stock 55 Buick Special, 264 v-8 auto. Of course I have NONE of them left. Currently building a 74 Super Beetle with (for) my son. 4.3 V-6 chevy up front, s-10 rear, straight axle front, folding chopped top... this is gonna be a fun one!!!! Always done everything myself. Body work, engines, (oops, I lied...I DON'T do transmissions!!!) upholstery (probably never again though!!!) electrical and of course paint. I saw some familiar names on here already from some other forums. Looks like its gonna be a fun place to hang out!!!

Hey Hotrod, don't know too many people in Kville yet. We had lived in Oak Ridge till a couple of months ago, but if he's in the hot rod seen, I've probably either seen him or his ride. Whats he drive??
Club chop seem slow lately?? With the new shop and a full size booth to work out of now, I hope to get back into doing more cars/trucks/rods than just the bikes... got a customers '55 Anglia that I'm headed over to the shop to work on right now...see ya!

Welcome to the club. That 54 chevy with the 348 makes me drool. Love the 348's and thinking of putting one in my 37 chevy truck.
Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Thats gotta be a fun one!!! When my wife and I got married back in 87, she had a '79 Mercury Bobcat with a factory v-6. WHAT A TURD!!! Wish I still had it now... Of course back then I had the bigblock 66 vette! I had a Chevy Astro with the 4.3 and thought when we started talking about the Bugster, it would be a GREAT engine to put in there. Right now we just have the stripped body and a pile of parts to build it. Gotta get the frame started pretty soon, my son is getting excited!! He's almost 16 and I figured if I made him pay for some of it and do some of the work he would appreciate the car more and therefore be more careful than if we just gave him something. I helped my dad build my stock Chevy Monza that I drove to school and that made me take more care of it I think. Although that little straight 4 cyl/4 speed would beat most v-8 cars through the intersection... not that I would know ANYTHING about that!!!

He is a retired engineer, runs a small resin company making unusual model car components, and an avid rod & custom enthusiast who keeps threatening to build something! You will see him at some events in a wheelchair. I know he helped a friend from Florida have his vintage 49-51 Merc custom restored in Knoxville. Nice guy. Say "Hi" if you see him.

I'll keep my eyes open for him. Got a good show coming up in January, the " Cabin Fever Run" is always a BIG event for a winter, indoor show. Good chance I will find him there!

Wecome to CHR Maxx! Sounds like you have a lot of great experience to share with us. Cool that you are working with your son on his car. Great experience. Post some pix when you get a chance.
