Welcome to the forum. I have to say I am not a fan of PT's, but actually saw one I liked at Daytona a few years ago. He did it '50's style, black body, red wheels with wide whites, some louvers, etc. Had a crowd around it, and I overheard some people say the exact thing I was thinking...."wow, this one actually looks nice."

As for the wheels, chrome is tough to get off, even sandblasting doesn't really scratch the surface much, but you could try that, and then some sandpaper followed up with some etch primer. Someone is making early style wheels for the PT........saw it in a magazine ad one time.

I bet a chrome shop could strip the chrome off of chrome wheels. They have to do it every day to replate parts.
