    Just a quick Hello

I've been lurking around for a few days reading all the wonderful threads on this site so I thought I'd better post an introduction. I'm 32 and been into hot roding since I was about 14. Most the the stuff I've done in the past has been mostly race orientated (bracket racing and dirt mods mostly). I lost the interest in racing several years ago but still enjoy tinkering in the shop. My first thought was to build a T bucket, but this afternoon my pappy-in law gave me a '53 or '54 Chevy PU so I think I'm going to build it into a beater, parts chaser, rat rod sort of thing. It is just a cab, doors, and front fenders (I think I saw 1 or 2 hood out there that might fit) but the sheet metal seems pretty solid, part of the frame is there but all of the suspension was cut out ( he owned a wrecking yard and crushed out a few years before me and my wife meet but there is still alot of neat odds-n-ends out there). Well sorry to be so long winded, thanks to all of you for the great info on this site.

    Kevin

(just noticed I posted this in the wrong place maybe one of the mods can move it. Sorry )

Welcome,Sounds like a good project, good luck with it,and don't be afraid to ask questions,no matter how stupid they may seem to you. The dumbest question is the one not asked! Hank

Kevin, Welcome to CHR. Everybody has to start a project somewhere, and it looks like you got a pretty good start by having some critical pieces in good condition. Keep us posted with your progress and give us some pictures while you're at it. People here LOVE pictures.

Hi Kevin, welcome. Don't worry about posting in the wrong places, everybody on here is kind and laid back, so you won't get a fine or anything. If there were fines for making mistakes on here, I would have to sign over everything I own to cover my little screwups.

As the guys said, keep us posted and give us lots of pictures to look at as you go along.

    Don

PS: I bet New Mexico has lots of old tin laying around of the non rusted variety.
