Just a quick introduction
Hopefully it is OK to post a quick intro here.
I just signed up and will be posting (hopefully frequently) in this section of the forum.
Last week I purchased a 1932 Ford Hiboy roadster and needless to say, I am crazy in love with it. It is no trailer queen and needs work, has been around the block quite a few times, but has a great vibe, nostalgic old school built I favor and there's plenty of room there for repair/upgrade projects for me to tackle. Previously I owned a 1938 Hudson Terraplane Business coupe.
See pics of my little roadster here: www.bettatalk.com/meet_my_hotrod.htm
AGAINTS ALL ODDS... This is a little rod with a lot of "soul" and heart. The little guy made the headlines in 2002 and was mentioned in Streetrodders magazine as well as several other publications: I wish I could say it is because it wons the NHRA nationals that year, but that was not the case . It actually made the news because it was a)- built by a real young hotrodder (Eric Koceja) who drove it (partially completed) all the way to the nationals and b)- broke down en route (engine kaput) but c)- Still managed to somehow make it to the nationals and (most importantly) d)- swapped his dead engine for a new 350 right there and then in one day in front of a huge crowd which gathered around to see it happen. and was able to participate in the nationals .
Read the story here (it's kinda cool):
http://www.streetrodderweb.com/event...rod_nationals/
If you scroll down that page it is the 5th & 6th picture from the top left.
I am to be the 6th owner of this hotrod. And to this day it is still not finished. (But I intend to take to the finish line). Currently still primer black, otherwise in near perfect running condition. It sat for 14 years as a rolling chassis in a Wisconsin garage before Eric took it over and got it running. He never did get around to painting it though. Following owners did some mechanical work on it as Mr. Hiboy has always been a driver and had accumulated many miles and started to show it. By now most of everything has been replaced, but I will tackle replacing more components (breaking system, rear shocks, oil pan etc...) in the next few weeks.
I have many questions and hope to get some guidance and help from you seasonned 32 owners.
Well, that's it for now, you all have a great day and I'll be posting my first few questions in a moment.

Welcome aboard Faith! You and Mr Hiboy are welcome additions to the forum, we'll look forward to you joining in on the technical discussion and nonsense that goes on around here. By the way, you hardly seem the beastly type, are you sure the Mr Hiboy isn't the beast and you are the beauty?
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Welcome Faith and Mr Hiboy....that story of young Eric made interesting reading, that's a real "can do" hot-rodding attitude. Your site was good to look at too. Good on ya! My missus too (She Who Must Be Obeyed) is very often the only female at a run with her own car.

Pat: I see you have looked at her picture too. Yep, shes a cutie.
Hi Faith, welcome to this forum. I've been a member here for about a year, and really feel at home here. I've surfed around some other sites, and even communicated with you on the other site where you were catching some flack because you had the nerve to "buy" your rod, and they didn't consider you a true rodder. (I'm Donsrods on that forum)
I think you will find this forum a lot different than any other out there. The people on here are real, and also very courteous and caring. I have never met one of them, but feel we have been friends for a long time. I would bet you never catch any grief at all on here about how you came by your rod, we don't care. All that concerns us is that you love cars as much as we do. This forum also tends to be very G rated, unlike one forum I can think of, but not the one I mentioned earlier. We have a lot of women and young people who frequent the site, so we like to keep the lanquage clean and respectful. I don't mention that because I am afraid that would be a problem with you, but just so you know the nature of this forum.
From the posts you have made on the other forum, I know you to be intelligent and strong in your beliefs about rodding, and best of all, you actually drive your car. Your car is really cool, and it looks very well built in the pictures. I bet it's a blast.
Welcome again. I think you will like it here.

Hey Don
As you see I was able to track down my rod's history and talked to eric's dad in length yesterday. I am awaiting a call from da man himself (Eric), hopefully he will call so I can drill him with questions.
I have decided I'll be taking Hiboy to the West Coast primer nationals next week-end. It's local and I'm sure it will be an experience. I'll let you guys know who it goes! I don't really expect or care to win anything but I'd like to participate nonetheless. Networking with other local roadster owners and hotrod owners is always a plus.
well, gotta run, I'm off to Flames (local hotrod hang out)... Ciao!

Way to go Faith! Looks like that was Bob's Toluca Lake?
Can't go wrong with a deuce hiboy in SoCal. Look around the Forum some more, you'll also find the "Deuce Den", a separate section we opened for talking '32 stuff specifically. Some of us have had deuces before, a few still do, so if we can help we're here for ya.

It was so cute seeing just how excited she got about this... She is actually always a very shy, subdued person... It was like suddenly, she metamorphosized into someone else right before my very eyes LOL... I think it has something to do with the raw energy of the rod, the sound of it, the feeling you get when you get pinned against the back of the seat when you give it some gas.... It rocks!
