Hey guys, im new to these forums, saw this section, thought id go ahead and follow the rules.
I own a Primer Black 1968 Chevrolet El Camino Malibu. Its got a brand new GM 350 under the hood (the target motor, not GMPP), its got a few mods like the Performer RPM Air Gap (Switching back to the normal performer mani because the RPM air gap is too much manifold for me right now), holley street carb, elec fans, blah blah, normal stuff. Anyways, ive got a good amount of plans for this elky what with body work, engine work, and suspension, the interior is a whole nother can of worms

    TTYL guys!

Hi Tim, and welcome to the forum. Always nice to see new faces on here.

As we've discussed on here many times, the crate engines from Chevy are one of the best deals going. How far along are you on your ride ?

Throw some pictures our way when you get a chance.

im not too far away from completion when you just list things, but stopping and taking a look at the car you can see ive got a ways to go.

    [Plans]
    Body:
Delete Pinch welds from Bed Rails, weld, Bondo.
Smooth the Tailgate Rail with sheet metal, weld, Bondo.
Smooth Body Seam above tails, again weld, and Bondo.
Shave the emblems, door handles, and mirrors, of course, weld and bondo
Exhaust will exit behind the door a ways, but ive yet to come across a good way of doing that, but it is what I ultimatly want
Full fiberglass front end w/ 3 1/2" Cowl (Not 1 piece, i like opening my hood, not my front end)
Paint Tuxedo Black w/ Mother Of Pearl flames (just 2 coats for a really ghosted flame)

    Interior:
Heres where it gets expensive and extensive at that.
I want to do a custom either sheet metal or fiberglass dash, but most likely sheet metal for cost lol. Id like it to house a normal array of gauges along with a monitor where my stereo and whatnot would sit. Below I want a custom perch wood (overlayed with a cushy black leather and stitched in white) center console with a brushed aluminum center section. This is going to house a couple of half sweep gauges, the stereo head unit, the Window Controls, a fixed travelers keyboard, as well as a trackpad with buttons from a laptop as im going to be mounting my old computer (in a mini case) in the car and tuning it on the fly (eventually). Door panels are going to be custom made to actually look nice and not just be a flat piece of cardboard and leather with a little perch for your arm. Behind the seats im not sure what im going to do but i was thinking about throwing 4 10" subwoofers in a custom enclosure under the package tray at an angle such as \ so it looks normal and gives me some room back there still.

    Engine:
The motor is going to be TPI soon, Ive yet to throw headers on it, if anyone has some used GM A-Body Full length headers, hit me up, ill buy em immediatly. Its got a 2.5" Exhaust from the crossover back (single) on an IMCO muffler (distinct and throaty in my opinion, but its a bit loud so im going to extend the exhaust a bit past the axle, but read the body section above for a different approach). Eventually I would like to throw an S-Trim S/C on it and run it at low-mid boost since i have a relatively stout but not TOO stout bottom end.

    Suspension:
The Works is all I can say. I know itll be a bit expensive but I would like to fabricate a C4 Corvette Suspension under the rear. But somehow I also want to transfer some of the forward weight to the rear as we all know the rear end is FAR too light on these cars. Heck theres nothing there!

All in all its going to be, like everyone elses, a never ending project that I will never be fully satisfied with lol. Anyways, got work in the morning yall. Talk to everyone later.

    G'night everyone!
    -Tim

[Edit] Ill get some pics up tomorrow guys.
