I hope you don't mind me in the forum

Anyways, i'm building a modern hot rod.

A lot of the domestic guys i've met instantly dislike imports, but the same reason people started building hot rods is the same reason people build imports now: light, cheap to insure, interchangable parts, inexpensive used, and enough of them to keep getting spares!

Anyways, what i'm trying to do is build a tribute to the old school rodders.

I'm building a 95 hatch, which with a basic diet, will weigh in at around 2000 lbs. I'm ditching the 1.5 with 5 speed for a 2.4 DOHC with an LSD equipped 6 speed. This will basically move it from 106hp/98 tq at a high rev to a lower revving engine from a TSX, that with light all motor building, will make 200+hp/180tq at the wheels. Legit sources say I could hit high 12s on some sticky street tires, which is pretty good especially considering it's a front wheel car. I'm also sticking with mostly OEM parts instead of going crazy in the aftermarket, and definitely NO RICE! I'm planning on painting the car black with very subtle gold ghost flames or pin striping, I haven't made up my mind yet and I hope I could get some input! This is going to be a long project but i'll try to post regularly for those interested.

I appreciate all cars and regularly attend the Back to the 50's event in St. Paul and the Woodward Dream Cruise in my home state of Michigan. I'm always amazed by the hot rods I see and the ingenuity their owners have. Basically I joined here to learn more about hot rods and be influenced by your cars.

So please chime in and let me know what you think and what I could do to make my car a true modern hot rod!
