Welcome aboard SickBoy and fellow Oldsmobile enthusiast! The 56 is a great car, last of the shoebox Oldsmobiles. They have beautiful lines (almost as nice as the 57's) and can be made into really fine customs. Or you can keep it original and make a great crusier out of it by improving the suspension and brakes.

I have a 57 Rocket 88 that has been customized. Nose, decked, shaved, and frenched. All new interior including custom console, but still runing the original 371 cid V8 with the J2 package which is the Tri-power setup. What good is Tri-power? Well it certainly is an attention getter and a magnet for people who remember then when they were new. It will put a deep dent in your gas budget if you run it hard enough.

Does the 56 have the 324 cid engine in it, if so, that is a good mill. Only problem with the old Olds engines is that some parts are becoming difficult to come by. Many parts are available from www.fusick.com and Egge Machine also makes engine repair and upkeep parts. Some people tranplant newer engines into them, like the Olds 455 or Chevy 350 or 454.

When you get your ride post some pix.
