newbee here
I have been fixing up old cars since I was a kid. always trying to find out how things work. it was easy taking things apart. but when it was time to putt them back together was a problem. so I learned from a tender age of 13 the difference between how things should or shouldn't come apart.
my first car had a 351c in it and before I was old enough to drive I was looking for ways to make it faster. as I grew older my "TOYS" became more expensive.
my lattest toy is a 55 chevy belair. I got the idea from horse power tv , the super shoe box , but i wanted to use a REAL 55 chevy for the build the car I found was pretty much rusty but for what I have in mind it is perfect.
this project is what lead me to this site.
the 55 will have an art morrison chassy . a curry 9 plus rear end with 4.11 gears. willwood disk brakes.
to power the car a 572 ci / 620hp,650 ftlb torque crate engine from gm performance parts. then add a 8-71 blower with a pair of 995cfm king demon carbs. msd ignition system.
and a set of dynatech 2-1/4'' to 2-3/8'' Stepped Pro Stock BB-Chevy Headers, and a little shot of nos.
my goal is to get 1000+ hp
I have a set of 295/50 hoosiers out back to help get the power to the ground .
at this moment I haven't decided on the transmission. but im doing my homework and any info I can get will help. same goes with the super charger . I know there are more companies building good products.
the 55 will see the track. and to just show off on the streets of course.
this is all for now. will add more soon.Last edited by fordsfairlane; 12-17-2005 at 01:32 AM.

Welcome to CHR, fordfailane. Sounds like a neat project car. Not sure about the compression on the crate engine....an 871 blower motor isn't going to like having more than 8 or 8.5 to 1 compression. Don't forget the spark retard box from MSD, got to really pull a lot of timing out of the motor as the RPM's go up......
If done right, the motor should make good hp, done wrong it's going to be a gernade!!!!!!! Blowers are neat on the street, as long as you have a motor that is built for it.......Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Learning must be difficult for those who already know it all!!!!

Welcome fordfailane to CHR. Sounds like you've got yourself a killer engine. 1,000HP for strip and streets, WOW.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
