    63 nova

I've got a 63 nova conv. kinda stock, and want to use it for a daily driver. It's got the 194 w/a 3sp. manual. Dont like it much. I think I want to install a 307 with the attached turbo hydro trans out of an 86 cad fltwd. Are the oilpans sold for the chev V8 engswaps compatable w/307 cad? I dont want a racer, just a little more zip. Thinking new intake manifold, carb, headers hivolt ign. ect. what do I need to know? thanx

I found some info on the web that indicates the Cadillac 307 for 1986 was a carbureted Olds motor. It also sounds pretty gutless....

"A carbureted, Oldsmobile-built 5.0-liter V8 was the standard engine from 1986 to 1990. For 1990, a fuel-injected 5.7 liter V8 became available, but only with a Coachbuilder or Trailer Towing package. A year later, that engine jumped from 175 to 185 horsepower, and could be ordered for any Brougham. A Chevrolet-designed, fuel-injected 5.0-liter V8 became standard for '91, developing 30 more horsepower than the prior carbureted engine."

You can do as you wish, but I think I'd be lookin' for a 350 Chevy.....

There is no replacement for displacement.....i would never install a 307,305, or a 327 into anything i could put a 350 into, and if you can put a 350 into it you can stuff a 454 into it....350's are still pretty easy to get a hold of nowadays.

    check this out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33613

    Pretty good pricing too....

Hey there, finally another classic Nova owner!!
    I have a 66 Nova with the 194, and 2 speed powerglide.
Currently rebuilding the 194, installing a performance cam, and I added an HEI distributor from a later Nova with a 250-6.
I thought about an engine swap, but my car is all stock like yours and I want to maintain the original look and feel. Plus it's cheaper on gas. Email some pics if you can, I'd like to take a look at your Nova.
