Just found this site and had to join. A little about me, I used ot be a mechanic in a Cadillac/Pontiac dealership, 15 years ago got a Gov't desk job. Spent most of my time tournament fishing and pretty much quit working on cars. My son turned 13 and I thought the best way for him to know how to take care of his cars when he gets older is to rebuild one. So he found a 84 Trans Am that the guy swore ran and he only wanted $50 for. Told me it had a deep engine knock and he would even let me use his trailer to get it home with. Got it home and got it running and found the know was where the guy had mashed the oil pan against the crank!. Anyway the motor is out with the block being bored and we are now redoing the front suspension and steering. I shut down my bait shop I had by the house and we turned it into our "hotrod shop" he he he. We are both loving it and can't wait to get his done so I can start on a 40's pick up for myself. He is now 14 and has a couple years till he has to get the car done. Not many better ways to spend time with my son than covered in grease explaining how a sway bar works. Plus he now has parts to buy when he saves his mowing money.
