    Lead but no Head

hey, i'm from, awe hell all over but i live in washington state now. I am just getting into cars, I never had much experience with them I was a fly boy before this. I have a good welder's hand and can persuade metal pretty well but I know jack shit about internals. I recently aquired a 1957 cadillac coupe deville and would like to fix it up. I think I will smooth lower and give it a 1' chop, but I don't know what to do to give it the go, It has matching numbers so maybe I will keep the block bore/stroke, port/polish, clean it up and hopefully make it beat those little bastard rice rocket cars who always want to drag on greens.
well if you have any advice on cadillacs let me know
    thanks

I agree, one of the big Caddy motors, either the 500 or 472 would be a great choice. They make their power at low RPM so are perfect for moving a heavy car. Keeping matching numbers in a modified car is not real important value wise. Parts, including High Performance, are plentiful for the 425/472/500 motors. A great source of Cadillac info is available at Maximum Torque Specialties: www.500cid.com. They also have a forum with lots of knowledgable and helpful people

Good luck with your project and keep us posted. Some pics would be great.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!
