New member, thought I oughta introduce myself.

Hello everybody, I've been cruisin' this forum for a while and thought I'd better sign up and say hello. My name is Derek and I live in a little town just outside of Albuquerque, NM. I don't visit to many forums, seems like the politics are always funny online, but you all look like a great bunch of gearheads and car folks and I just couldn't resist. My current rides are my '77 Blazer, 2wd, 350/350. It's pretty much my work truck and a work in progress at the same time, but most are I think. I've also got 2 Rabbit's. An '81 cabrio and an '84 2 dr, a '64 Buick Skylark 2 dr post with a newer model 455, a '74 Caprice land yacht, it's a 4 dr hardtop (I love those early '70's GM boats, nothin' rides quite like 'em) and a '79 Cutlass. It's a factory 4 spd V8 car, one of the reasons I've kept it,. I've never even seen another stick shift '79 and from what I've learned so far it's not a Hurst Olds or a 442, but I'm not sure what else it could be other than just another Cutlass S. I also own about a half a dozen jap bikes and a few other cars and trucks, but not much worth mentioning here yet. Besides, this post is getting long and I wanted to keep it short and sweet. Too late now, sorry.

I'm also a mechanic, like a lot of people here I'm sure. Pretty good with carbs and tuning and electrical as well. At least some days are better than others. I didn't mean to ramble, but it's over now. I'm excited to be here, so I think I'll go check out some more of the board.

welcome aboard, i'll start off by saying i'd give my eye teeth for your cutlass, never heard of one with a four speed before. i had an 80 cutlass in my teen years and i think i may have to find one back soon. can you fit a small block in those rabbits?

Yeah, I've never seen another 4 spd either. I get a lot of offers on that one for some reason. It's even got a factory tach in the dash. Small blocks in the Rabbits, huh? I thought about it once but figured I'd put 'em in something worthwhile. I like my Vdubs well enough, but they'll never be hot rods. Get great gas milage though and with as much drivin' as I do somedays that's a good thing
