HI! Im new here...
Hello all i was searching the web and stumbled across this place and thought it seemed pretty cool. Well a little about me, I am 16 and yes i know that is very young but I am by no means un-knowledgeable My dad has been restoreing old cars since he was my age and since i could walk i hvae been in a garage. I personally enjoy the ratrod style cars but have much respect for all other styles of building. I currently own a 1960 Lincoln Contential Mark IV, and a 1951 Buick. I plan on retro restoring them to the fullest. Satin Black, Indian blankets, pinstriping the works. So thats me sorry if i faild to mention. anything and also is there anyone else here into building era-specific/ratrod type cars?

Welcome aboard RatRodder. I think you'll like it here. You know era perfect is very subjective, especially if you don't take in to consideration the part of the country you live in. Here in the Midwest (where I grew up but left in 66 and didn't move back to until 99) the Indian Blanket thing never caught on. Primer was in, but you had to have a nice interior. Different V-8's (other than Chevy's or Flatheads) was definitely in. So when you say Era/specific you gotta realize some guys will probably argue. Same diference with the East Coast at a specific Era. Different strokes for different folks, in different areas of the country. Build what makes you happy.Duane S

Hi, I'm also 16 and I have a '51 Chevy Fleetline 4dr. I'm keeping the 235 6cyl with powerglide auto because it's a rare engine combo. I'm doing a '50's- '60's era correct hotrod by getting an offy 3 carb intake, fenton headders, smithys mufflers and eco can tips, all parts which were available in the '50's and '60's. The extrtior will be a single stage medium dark purple and purple and white vinyl interior. It's gonna be more of a 1960's higher end/ low end mix and match because a high end era correct car would have a V8 normally, not a stock 6cyl but the low end car could have the 6cyl but would have a not so flashy appearence. Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
