    hi everyone

    i've got a 71 javelin sst 360 4 speed and a 74 javelin 360 auto.

i'm building the 74 to have fun in. i put a rebuilt 63 ford 9 inch with a thirdmember from a 77 ranchero with 3.70 gears in it.
i'm building a amc 401 with indy heads and intake, 750 holley, a small hyd roller cam 224/232 @ .050 540/560 lift, 10.7 to 1, 1 7/8 hooker super comps, 727 trans with a ati 3500 10 inch stall. motor will be done in two more weeks. should drive really nice on the street. i might put a 232/240 @.050 in a year or so if i want more power. girlfriend wants to run it at the track too.

i thought my hotrod days where over but the girlfriend of 8 years was bugging me she wanted a hot rod. i was looking for a 68-69 gtx or a 68-69 camaro or firebird. she ran across the 74 javelin and i told her we would get the javelin until we found what we were looking for and then sell it. well i drove it home and really liked the car, so we got another one for her.

i know a lot of people look down on amc's but i really like the javelins and the amx's now. i looked down on amc's myself before i drove that javelin home.
i have to tell you i really like going to shows and people coming up and saying i haven't see one of those in 15-20 years. if they know what it is. people call it a mustang, mach1 and camaro all the time. to tell you the truth i hadn't seen one in 20 years before i bought one.

and just a few amc fact's. the amc 360 is not a mopar 360. the amc 390 is not ford motor and the amc 327 is not a chevy motor. i have people try to tell me that they are all the time.

Welcome aboard qwert! Those are some nice unique rides! I can identify with people telling you where your parts came from, get that with Studebakers all the time

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

well i wouldn't call them unique, there are still alot of them left, you just don't ever see them, . amc made around 24,000 a year for 4 years of that body style that includes the amx and javelin but, thank you.

i've found around 10 in the state florida, i'm sure theres more in the state.

I just turned 38 nov 30th, all the cars i've owned where 70-74 except for my 95 dodge ram 2500 work truck. all where stock, i never did anything to the motors to make them faster. they where daily drivers.

i did my first run down a dragstrip with the 74 javelin a year ago. it still had the untuched stock motor in it with unkown miles on it. i'm sure over 130,000 miles. didn't do too bad for having a 3.15 open rearend. but thats when i decided to build a quick motor to have fun in.

Welcome to CHR Quert. Nice looking cars and there nothing wrong with AMC. I've got a pacer front end in my 37 and it rides great.
Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

thank you for the warm welcome. i was a little worried that my cars would be looked down on since they are amc's. so i'm a little defensive at times about amc's. guess you could tell in my first post.

i've only had them for 1 1/2 years. i could be called a amc guy now. i love all old cars and i use to jumped around from make to make. where are just so many nice old cars i would love to own. but i think i'm going to stick with amc for a while. but parts are so hard to get.

    "correction from ealier post"
    i almost forgot i owned a 68 ford galaxie 500 too. so 68-74

Qwert, Ain't nothing wrong with AMC's. My little brother, Larry (since deceased) bought a new Javelin 390, 4 spd in 1968 and put in the biggest Crower cam he could find, Offenhauser 2x4 intake with holley's and a Ford 9 inch (4.57 gears on a possi) and raised holy ##$$$@@ in Cedar Rapids, Ia where he worked. That car would really fly. Enjoy the ones you got.

i don't think theres anything wrong with amc's. i really like the javelins and amx's. everywhere i go i get nice car. but when i go to shows, i get a few people that turn there nose up at my car because it's a amc or tell me that there slow and junk, in not so many words.

the thing i'm told most is to put a chevy motor in it i have a few chevy friends and they told me that too. they like the car but think it needs a chevy motor to go fast.

after reading some post here i see that the people here are very respectful of others. i won't be defensive anymore. this is also the first non amc web site i've joined since i got the amc's.

PS: i just got back from a bonfire party tonight so i'm a little buzzed well night guy i'm going back to the party
