Sound's like theres a lot of redo work involved, might be easier and cheaper to get the $3995 kit from total performance, you'd have a good ready done frame with 9" ford housing installed, body and a few other odds and ends it comes with like sbc mounts ready put in, that would get you to where you would be with the 1 your friend has except with more parts you know what are unlike the steering box your unshure of.
