Here's what I’m planning on doing with my 1971 Chevy Impala 400 custom. Go ahead laugh if you want. Call me stupid if you want, it's OK I can take it, I’ve got thick skin.

Leave the motor stock with the 2 barrel carb. It is apart at this point (if you want you can read my thread in the Chevy small block forum) What I would like to do is get it in good running condition and put it back together with the only change being a chrome dress up kit to the motor. Planning on about $150.00 for this. I don't want to Hot Rod this car as I don't think the bottom end will hold up without a complete rebuild and at this point I am not willing to put that kind of money in it.

Put on dual glass pack exhaust to make it sound good $200.00?

Wheels - 100 spoke "Gold" wire wheels with chrome rims $560.00. Don't to hard but picture this: The car is brown with a white top and I think the wheels would really set off this color combination.

Finish body work and the new paint job (same color) looking at Maco for now $400.00? - Yeah I now you get what you pay for!

Jack the car up, wire brush and scrape then rattle can the under carriage to clean it up $20.00 in black spray paint.

Interior: Replace carpet tan color $150.00? Recover seats white vinyl $600? Spray paint vinyl door and side panels white (same color) $10.00

This is a limited budget fix up for about $2000.00. I plan on keeping this car for a while as Techinspector made me realize that it meant more to me than I originally thought. Thanks Tech. So let me know what you think? Rip away and remember I'm tough, I can take it!
