Everybody that is currently building a car...

After sitting 20 years it fired up on Sunday!!

Thursday- Got the wires,cap & rotor and the Pertronix Ignitor II
The coil wire is too short so I'll need to remount it on the block.

Friday 5pm- Still no fuel pump,so I'll do a funnel feed.

Saturday 10AM - Drove to my sisters house (the car is there)
Installed all the new parts,but STILL not starting???:(
Fuel was good,motor in time WTF???

Saturday 8pm- Arrived home & there on the table was the
Electrical assembly manual I bought in Canton a month ago &
on the cover is a pic of my firing order & yep I had it wrong,
I had the L and R banks reversed

Sunday 5AM- couldnt sleep, I KNOW Its gonna start
10AM- Drove into town swapped the wires around & it fired right up!
Sounds GREAT, fed fuel thru a Bike Line water bottle
still has 65PSI @ idle & nothing Leaked & no blow-by!!

Fuel pump arrived this Am,all I need is to get a fan relay, wire it up,
swap out the fuel tank,install the bumper,remove the window tint &
I can get plates..its all coming together!!!!!!!!!!

Its funny all the years it sat:I couldnt of cared less about it...
I even tried selling it for $2k (no takers) but once I decided
to get it going again its ALL I care about.

I believe in fate. You weren't supposed to get rid of the car. Same has happened to me, and I'm glad I ended up keeping the car.

Guess my pic of the "new kid" and his first rear wheel drive roundy round racer bit the dust in the last great puter glitch, so here it is again.

Went to our local track Sat. Night, Greg did what we asked him to do, got a 5th in his heat and a 4th in the feature. Managed to pass about 7 cars for the two races, not bad for the first time out for the car and driver!!

Friday night we are going to try him out on a lot flatter 3/8 mile track. If he's going to be running a mod next year he's gonna be on a very steep learning curve, should be able to run him 3 nights a week for the rest of the summer barring any major problems...... Gonna be a good racer someday, drives his line, moves around on the track to check out the grooves, and listens to instructions!!!!

Yup, sure does!!! Amazing, isn't it Mike? Not only that, after the feature he even knew what his oil pressure and water temperature had been running!!! Theres a reacall Tach on the car so there's not even an opportunity to fib about the RPM!!!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

thats great, after my first race i couldn't have told you if the car had gauges or not. i thought i was flying and i was getting lapped every 10 laps. i won a race the first yr. though. **) :cool:

:LOL: :LOL: Geez, thanks Mike! I thought I was the only one that went through that!!!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL: I remember sitting in the car after the race wondering how in the heck I was ever going to be able to go that fast!!!

We went racing on a long 3/8 flat track last night, Greg got a 4th in his heat and 7th in the feature!! But the really GREAT news is that we again brough the car home with no dents, dings, scrapes, cuts, or gouges!!! I sure am glad he isn't starting his driving career in the same fashion his mentor did!!!!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

Back to our home track last night, Greg did a fifth in the heat and another 4th place finish in the feature!!! Finally got the frist dent in the car though, pushed it out with the handle of a hammer, but he did manage to tear a little chunk of the vinyl on the numbers!!! Going to be a good driver, we're allready making plans for next year. Sponsors wanted, send cash!!!!!

PS. The temp both nights at race time was still right at 100 degrees!!! Sure was good to have the sun go down and finally cool off a bit. Hiding in the den today and enjoying the AC. Maybe this global warming stuff is true, never this hot here til mid August!!!!!!

Me too, hiding in the AC that is. I am planning on starting on paint for my car soon but not in this heat.

Brick, it was 100* here in Springfield and 96* out on the floor in the building I work in. :( :(

I here ya Brickman. I've got 10 bolts to fasten to have my truck back on the road (again) and since I am working outside, it's to darned hot for me.

I definately picked the wrong week to tear mine down. Putty in fresh bearings, oil pump & new cam/lifters. Plan to install the 144 blower this weekend. I made so many mistakes this past weekend and useing the heat for an excuse. A buddy stopped by to check my progress and offered to help me find a used window unit for the garage. I planned on some sweat on this project but not all at once. Will post some pics when completed (hopefully this weekend), would be working onit now if I wasn't on the road. Glad work provides laptop or I'd go batty in hotels.

Amen NTFDay, this week has been cruel so far, 2 more days to go. We had a big club meet last weekend and cruised 27 cars together to a fun little cruise-in. It was a blast, been drawing a little, what ya think about 2 tone? (Exquise the bad art work) I can't get the color blue but NTFDay has seen the dark blue, mopar "Intense Blue Pearl coat"
