title
I bought a 47 - 53 Chevy pickup 2 weeks ago to rod for my Son. The truck had no title & I can find no evidence of a VIN no.
I would like to optain a 1948 title for this truck. Anyone have any advice?Don Meyer, PhD-Mech Engr(48 GMC Trk/chopped/cab extended/caddy fins & a GM converted Rolls Royce Silver Shadow).

Best to check with the DMV, as to what the procedure in Florida is....seems that every state or province is different when it comes to this stuff.
Probably will at least need a sworn statement of sale.
If you can't find proof of the model year somewhere on it, they may want you to register it as a 2004, which means emmission testing and safety standards.
Perhaps someone can sell you a serial tag and ownership, or buy a parts truck with an ownership.Home Handyman Forum

does it have a motor in it??? if so some states used the motor numbers, if yours does, use those numbers to get a title & then get DMV to come out & give ya new tag because you lost yours. just may do the trick...joeDonate Blood,Plasma,Platelets & sign your DONORS CARD & SAVE a LIFE

Some states (I know Washington does cause I went througt it there. live in Bonney Lake from 90 to 99) require you to bring it into the Highway Patrol inspection station, even on a trailer. Once they have made sure it's not stolen and you have a bill of sale, they will issue a new VIN and you can get a temp title which becomes permanent after 3 years.Duane S

The trk has no serial nos anywhere. About 15 yrs ago I had a friend that was in a similiar situation & he bought a title from a outfit in Maryland. As I recall they gave him a title & paperwork to get a current title.
Does anyone know about this outfit & is it legal?

It is a new aftermarket one, new, but not packaged. It came with the dipstick. Chrome, about 7 1/2" long with a bend in it.
