First, I'd think that the output of your relay should be to the electric fuel pump, not the coil. Leave the coil wired directly from the ignition switch. It's not a big deal but just makes good sense to me.

If it indeed "...ran awesome" with the new flamethrower coil, old cap & plugs then it makes sense that something in your R&R of the cap & plugs caused the problem, right? Good luck with the chase!
