    Turbo 270 Straight 6

    Not that I would, but do you think it would worth while installing a turbo on a Chevy 270cid straight 6? I ask because I was driving around in my buddy's 93.5 Toyota Supra turbo straight 6. And yes, I realize the motors have nothing in common, but I thought it was a cool concept that people would have never seen before.

    Whatta y'all think?

    How hard do you think it would be to get it to work and have some real power?

    Well, it probably has a fairly low compression ratio. Pistons, rods and crank: how strong are they? I don't know about that motor specifically, but power means some combination of
    power = displacement * RPM * boost
    (more or less)
    boost or RPM equals stress on piston, etc.
    If you don't need huge power, can definately make it work!
    (whadda ya mean "not that I would" ???)

Plus I am obviously interested in haveing fun with one since I want to know about turboing one, so myquestion to you is How do YOU have fun in a inline 6 cylinder??

    Sorry Stevet47..I took too many meds the other day ...Ya can do a lot with an inline...We don't get so radical as to using turbo's as there are many carb set ups that are fun to have...Jack Clifford started making highpo stuff for inlines back in the fifties..Died out for a while but he came back with a lot of new line of manifolds etc in the past few...Jack Clifford passed away recently but the company continues..Plus there are many others that build most everything for GM inlines...Visit "The Stovebolt page" for a good time discussing inlines sixes and old GM trucks....I have collected enough parts and a 1969 C10 truck to build a healthy 292L6 coupled to a saginsaw four speed...Its going to be wicked at low speeds....I plan on using tri-power for carburetion...3 one barrels...Time will tell......

    inlineidiot--
    yea, i have checked out both Cliffords and The Stovebolt Page, both good sites. You gotta love tri-power, the look is awsome. About how much power can you make out of these motors without going crazy?

    .Geeze Tech... ..not sure what ya mean. .. ....S. Berkelsnort keeps coming up with "demented".... ..........Steve47....I've never paid much attention to numbers when rating HP....The money numbers to afford the things take precedent..I think it depends on just what you want it to do...I'm working on a 1965C10 Chev truck with a 230CID in line that I plan to leave pretty much stock except for dual exhaust..Even the three on the tree shift...Its cheap to run and fun to drive...The inlines aren't so good for high speed but you can build them to get there in one hell of a hurry..In the days when Ferd flatheads ruled them guys feared the GMC..(Jimmie) 270L6...for one...A guy has to have had the chance to drag race one once to get the gist of the mighty power these engines can produce... To make a living I have to work on Japcrapper rice burners because everyone has em..there is always something wrong with em..the flatrate hours are excellent..the mark up on the parts is good..But I enjoy the time on GM inlines..no matter when built...I have them clear back to 1929..............292L6=long stroke=low end torque camshaft=tri power carburetion=cast iron dual exhaust=burned out glasspack muflers=dual point distributer=Horse power.???......LOTS.!!!.....The thing was a stimp puller from the gitty up.........Ok.Ok...Berkelsnort says I've rattled on long enough.......He can be such an overbearing SOB.......
