This is a cool thread. A quick count in my head I remember 11 hot rods and the other dozen or two slightly modified cars/trucks don't count.
I'll just say my 1st. hot rod was my first 4 wheel vehicle, a 65 International 3/4 ton LWB step side with a 392ci 2bbl. Don't sound like much but in hi school it was the coolest and weirdest thing in the back parking lot. Before I bought it from an older friend we re-did it somewhat. We pulled the dr. shafts, discarded the carrier brg. and rear shaft, cut the shackles off and moved everything forward to match the one dr. shaft. Used a military 4' by 4.5' bed and a 30 gallon barrel for a tank. Replaced the doors with tubing to keep you mostly inside, put a Jeep looking radiator with a military brush guard and lights on and cut the hood the width of the grille back to the width at the hinges and of course lost all the fenders. Moving the r. springs gave it lift in the rear so we did a lift to the front solid axle, added 10" ft. rims to the 8.00 15's and narrow duals on the rear. The motor and clutch were crisp and the low geared spider welded rear end made it impressive off the line and damned scary half way into hi gear.
My 12th. hot rod is in the works now, 1935E Dodge pu with an injected 318 overdr. and .391 limited slip. It's looking a little more refined than my first.
