As far as your question on LS1 durability. Being it is a 02 car it is a toss up which block it has. The LS6 blocks are a bit stronger due to the webbing differences in the block. Overall I have pushed a factory short block LS1 over 750hp. What killed it was the kid that bought the car flipped it end over end. The factory short block made that number from 79K miles to 96K without a single problem.
Now the iron block versions have been known to make over 4 figures with turbos and hold up decent for what you are asking of factory hardware.
The overall cost for rebuild is a bit steep on them. Most knowledgeable builders will do the rebuild for around 2000.00 for the short block and 3500 plus for the longblock. DO NOT take it to your normal small block guy and expect great results.
They can be picky with lifters and oil pumps.
As far as the price is considered it all depends on the condition. Extremely clean Fbodys around the DFW area bring about 7000-9000 with 100K on them.
