As they say "anything worth doing is not easy". I have been asked countless times on my build why I didnt go with a T56. I personally have a hatred for rowing gears. My first car at 16 and my first real drag car at 20 were both slush boxes. I wont do that to myself again.
You're right - it wasn't easy, and I'm pretty happy with the result.
On the trans, I'm the other way. I love a stick shift because I learned on them, grew up with them and raced with them - although my best racecar was a Super Comp altered with at 2-speed Powerglide. I guess the real decision was based on foot room in this car, though. Three pedals was doable, but way too tight for comfort.

We drove to Oklahoma to day, met with Tim, decided what to do (with Wesley Smith's advice) and left it sitting there. We're going with some black with dark reddish brown accents. Tim's going to pull the black tuck & roll seatcovers and sew in the reddish brown pleats. I'm looking at two to 3 weeks for a return trip to pick it up. Tim did say that he would send progress photographs.

Man too bad you cant tow something a bit larger. I have a 18ft roll back with a winch that tows like a feather, and would be happy to let you use it.
I don't even have a truck that will tow it anymore. :(
I appreciate the offer, but the Escape wouldn't handle it. It has 240 HP, but handling and braking are dicey enough with just the dolly. Side note: I had forgotten how freakin' noisy U-Haul trailers are - especially empty.

The trunk wasn't in the original plan, but the shop said it didn't match, so they did it anyhow. I need to touch up the paint around the edges. That's my fault, not theirs. Also, nevermind the primer on the window frams - that's on me to finish. I had absolutely nothing to do with the color or pattern choices. I asked the shop guys, and this is what they recommended. I looked at the swatches they laid out and said, "do it."

I have been working part time this summer with only an occasional Saturday to mess with the car. I consider Jerry's comments to be very detailed and valuable but I like pictures! Jack the upholstery looks great! I am still running with painted interior on the roadster doors but I do need "pockets" eventually.
