wonder if she knows anything about Motorcraft carb gasket leaking?
she can bend on my engine bay any time she wants to
still locating a couple more gaskets here in Yuppieville and then I'll be ready to install again and hopefully it won't leak this time - - - bucket's getting full.

Em, when you put it back together tighten your carb bolts in a couple of stages using a cross (X) pattern. Snug them, then go around again to around 50 to 60 inch pounds, then do a final to the recommended torque. I've seen values of 100 to 110 inch pounds on some carbs, and others for 140 to 150 inch pounds. You definitely don't want to "honk down" on them or you can warp the carb base. If you don't have an inch pound torque wrench, 100 inch pounds is only an 8.3 pound pull on a 12" ratchet handle (100/12 = 8.33), and it's easy to over torque.Last edited by rspears; 06-13-2013 at 06:32 AM.

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.
