Thread: Need help figuring out what to do for latches

I appreciate the response David. I didn't see it all those months ago and I got caught up in other things and never made any decisions on this. Now I'm back to it. You asked if I'm keeping the original handles, why do I need solenoids? My answer to that is because there is no lock on the drivers side and I thought adding a power lock/unlock by remote would be the answer.

I called Carolina Custom to ask some questions about their inside and outside door handle kits to retain the original handles with bear claws and he said he has never used that kit with power latches and he also said the power bear claws don't lock because most people shave the door handles. Any truth to power bear claws not locking? When I talked to Rocky Hinge they told me their BLP 01 kit both locked and unlocked (BP 002 no power lock and BCP 01 power lock and manual unlock). I suppose that depends on how its set up, but I'm not sure. He asked why I'm not shaving my door handles and I told him I'd like to keep the original look while being able to unlock the car with a remote.

So to sum it up, I wanted to keep the '35 outside door handles without having to climb across the bucket seats and console from the passender side to unlock the drivers side door. I thought adding a remote (no door locks on the door with the emergency cable and either power bear claw or just a solenoid) would be the easiest way, but in order to keep my original handles I need to use a kit like this from Carolina Custom http://www.carolinacustom.com/pages/...dware_page.jsp. I don't feel like I got a great answer from him on why he doesn't use the kit with power latches other than most people shave the handles. I feel like wired right with rods running from the latch to the carolina custom mechanisms its possible, but I just have zero experience with setting any of this up and need some more direction..
