Thanks for the encouraging words, Mike! I'm sure I can figure it out. It's just that the main reason for buying another lid was to save some time, money & hassle over repairing the old one. Obviously, that's not going to happen. When selling something, I'm all for presenting the item in the most positive way but when that "positive presentation" parts company with the "truth", I have a problem with that!! That's one of the challenges of buying used parts on line from a picture. All my future online purchases will require many more pictures, more questions and more direct communication!
