Model A Coupe Metal Top Insert

Rebuilding my '31 Ford Coupe for the 3rd time. I want to install a metal top insert this time. Any ideas about the leaving the top wood and wood header to attach the headliner and interior? It appears the header will need to be in place before welding in the top, I think the top wood can be installed after top welding. Has anyone done this operation, picures would be helepfull.
