Howard, found this discussion on the fordsix forum: FORDSIX PERFORMANCE • View topic - AOD to a 223 They don't make it sound encouraging, but the responses aren't current.
Another alternative, Bentsen's makes an adapter to put an AOD to the Y-block, so it might make sense to contact them and see if that would/could be modified if necessary to work to the six.

It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
