    Don,

Slight hijack, but I know how you feel. This one was sold quite a few years ago because a guy just kept raising the offer until I caved. Kids were on their way to college at the time, so It was the right decision.

This one, I sold in April, because we were on our way to Italy for three years and I couldn't take two cars. Also, it was pretty worn out, regardless of how it looks here. It was becoming a money pit, so the time was right on that one too. However, I would have liked to have it here last weekend for a trip up those winding roads on the Amalfi Coast.

However, the only way the yellow one in my avatar leaves is in my will.

To answer your question or attempt too Don, I truly believe that all of us true car people, rodders, bond to our cars like most bond to their children and that like pets become a major part of our family life. Yeah it is the same person from that other site making such a sentimental comment. Your build thread was the first one I followed when I joined this Club so I also feel your pain.

    Don, Shame on you man!!

    Ordinary??
    Just Transportation??

Now even I'm getting worried, maybe this choice is getting to you. See a Doc a Shrink or something "QUICK" Don. Statements like that might be contagious or something. Think about your Boys Don Act Quick before it's too late.

A Yugo is transportation, maybe really bad transportation, but transportation none the less. A Hot Rod??? Man even saying, Hot Rod and that word transportation in the same sentence is borderline blasphemy.

My pro street Dart took me 7 yrs to finish. I drove it for 9 yrs and had lots of fun and even won a few trophies. It was a street rocket and as I got older I wanted more comfort. So when I found the 50 Plymouth wagon I am building now, I said goodbye to my old friend who served me well.
The good feeling I have is that it went to a true car guy like me so I know it has a good home .

Nice to hear a lot of you understand how we become attached to this stuff. This is just a new one for me, I usually never get rid of anything. But I am actually ok with this decision and last night I pulled the license plate off and transferred it over to the 27, will go to the Tax Office this week and do that officially, and will move my insurance to the 27 too.

Before I took it to Tampa I had to remove and keep two things. Dan had bought me the Lucky Lady shift knob, and I have had my "No Club...Lone Wolf" license plate frame for over 20 years. Those will go on other projects. Wish I could have kept my Skratch pinstriping, but that was harder to get off.

Worked on my 27 last night while Dan was working on his dash. All of my wiring is done now, except for the front lights. I bought a piece of black carpet from a local auto upholsterer. I need to put the in place on the firewall before I get the interior done because my gas pedal and fuse block mount to it and my steering column comes through it. Without that piece of carpeting in there I can't put the steering in so I can drive it to the upholstery shop.

You should have put PINK carpet in there as a tribute to it's former color..................................

Just dinking the morning cup of coffee, enjoying the posts here, jabs and comroddery, thinking it's good to be alive, and what mixed feelings I go through during a car project. Some days the busted knuckle garage sign says it all! Post some pics of the 27!
I still mourn my 67 Mustang, selling it with a blown engine, back in college when I was broke and needed money for a plane ticket to get to my new summer job in Big Pine Key Florida, working Seacamp, a decision which lead to a new career for ten years, and some of the best memories of my life! Sailing , scuba, beautiful tropical weather! I think on all the frustration the Mustang gave me, and the pleasure of cruising down Highway one once it was running!
Glad the cats are o.k.! How many projects do you have ahead? I remember the firebird, the sedan, and the RPU any others?
I know you also mentioned the daily cruiser was going, any ideas of what your replacing it with? Mercury Marauder?

I really have a hard time letting go of my stuff also, and it doesn't happen to often. Or often enough according to my wife.
When someone wants something I have and offers me more money than I think it is worth, or would ask for if If I did decide to sell it, it starts making me think it's more valuable so I don't sell it. So now I have my excuse not to sell. But that's not it really, down deep I really don't want to let it go!!

Steve, after the 27 I have the RPU and the 46 to do. Not sure which first, but the rpu seems the most logical. The engine and transmission are done, the body is going to be left in patina, so I just need to build a new frame for it. The 46 needs more, and is bigger, so it will probably be the last one touched.

Ken, that is my trouble too. I just don't like getting rid of any of my stuff. Even when I got into collecting old headlights I had like 17 pairs of them. Slowly I did finally sell off all but a few sets for my projects, but it sure was fun looking up on the shelf and seeing all of those up there.

Paul, I hope you have gotten some more done on your 46. That car is too nice to be sitting around undone.

I'm still collecting parts Don. I'm in search of 4 dodge p/u 20" spare tire wheels. That's what I'm going to utilize on the '46.

Once I decide to get rid of something I do it! Then look back and regret it later on. But I know it was for the best at the time. Always take lots of pictures! That has been one of my biggest regrets.

    Yep I get it,
Been here a few times in my life and got rid of some cars that I am still trying to replace (and will)

A few years ago I had a torch red 2003 Mustang Mach 1. I bought it when I was starting to do well in my career and it represented somthing to me. A taste of the sucess i was achieving. Well of course I meet a girl, fall for her, get married and realize that I am renting a car for her to go on trips with because she cant drive a stick. I take the car (like a puppy to the pound) down to the Chevy dealership to trade on a new Tahoe. I cried all the way home (not just a little bit) Just doing what was right at the time for my family then. Still looking for my car and will get it back someday soon (the T bucket and ZO6 Vette will have to do in the mean time)

Pops is doing the right thing, the 27 is getting real close! 2 more projects waiting for him after that. Tough decision, but the right thing to do.

I have made that same painful decision to sell a car. The only good part was that it was a trade off so that I could put the money in my Nash. I still wish I had my Javelin but don't regret selling her because the money went to a good cause.
