My pro street Dart took me 7 yrs to finish. I drove it for 9 yrs and had lots of fun and even won a few trophies. It was a street rocket and as I got older I wanted more comfort. So when I found the 50 Plymouth wagon I am building now, I said goodbye to my old friend who served me well.
The good feeling I have is that it went to a true car guy like me so I know it has a good home .

Don,
Slight hijack, but I know how you feel. This one was sold quite a few years ago because a guy just kept raising the offer until I caved. Kids were on their way to college at the time, so It was the right decision.

This one, I sold in April, because we were on our way to Italy for three years and I couldn't take two cars. Also, it was pretty worn out, regardless of how it looks here. It was becoming a money pit, so the time was right on that one too. However, I would have liked to have it here last weekend for a trip up those winding roads on the Amalfi Coast.

However, the only way the yellow one in my avatar leaves is in my will.Jack

Steve, after the 27 I have the RPU and the 46 to do. Not sure which first, but the rpu seems the most logical. The engine and transmission are done, the body is going to be left in patina, so I just need to build a new frame for it. The 46 needs more, and is bigger, so it will probably be the last one touched.
Ken, that is my trouble too. I just don't like getting rid of any of my stuff. Even when I got into collecting old headlights I had like 17 pairs of them. Slowly I did finally sell off all but a few sets for my projects, but it sure was fun looking up on the shelf and seeing all of those up there.
Paul, I hope you have gotten some more done on your 46. That car is too nice to be sitting around undone.

I'm still collecting parts Don. I'm in search of 4 dodge p/u 20" spare tire wheels. That's what I'm going to utilize on the '46.

Once I decide to get rid of something I do it! Then look back and regret it later on. But I know it was for the best at the time. Always take lots of pictures! That has been one of my biggest regrets.

Yep I get it,
Been here a few times in my life and got rid of some cars that I am still trying to replace (and will)
A few years ago I had a torch red 2003 Mustang Mach 1. I bought it when I was starting to do well in my career and it represented somthing to me. A taste of the sucess i was achieving. Well of course I meet a girl, fall for her, get married and realize that I am renting a car for her to go on trips with because she cant drive a stick. I take the car (like a puppy to the pound) down to the Chevy dealership to trade on a new Tahoe. I cried all the way home (not just a little bit)
Just doing what was right at the time for my family then. Still looking for my car and will get it back someday soon (the T bucket and ZO6 Vette will have to do in the mean time)
Pops is doing the right thing, the 27 is getting real close! 2 more projects waiting for him after that. Tough decision, but the right thing to do.

I have made that same painful decision to sell a car. The only good part was that it was a trade off so that I could put the money in my Nash. I still wish I had my Javelin but don't regret selling her because the money went to a good cause.

My decision just became a whole lot easier tonight. The engine in my daily driver Honda blew up big time.
Dan had to come rescue me and tow me with his truck to the shop. I knew it was getting tired (170,000 miles) but a daily to me is just point A to point B, and I got over the "have to have a new car" thing years ago. But now I can start looking for a new car. Not sure what I am going to buy, but Don has been sending me ads for various brands and models, so I have a bunch to choose from.
Someone was looking out for me because this all happened in a way that could have been worse if the T hadn't sold.

At this age I mean stage of the game I am going for warranty. I had been in sales for 40 years and except for a couple cars I bought right I was always upside down when it was time to change. GM 100K mile warranty sounds good and even the Hyundai has one. Both have some cool cars!

I thought 170,000 was just getting broken in for a Honda. I have nearly 190,000 on the 318 in my Dakota and except for a little smoke on start up it purrs like a kitten.Ken Thomas

Yeah, Hondas do go further sometimes, but this one has been ridden hard and put away wet most days. It spent most of it's life with lowered suspension, mags, and ribbon tires, when my Son Dan owned it. It also towed a boat and utility trailer a lot, like two trips to Atlanta, bringing home a Model A and a 39 Dodge pickup. We also made a trip to Shreveport La and the Panhandle of Florida, bringing back a empty trailer one trip and a Model A sedan body the next time.
The worst thing though is that I didn't do anything to it other than put gas in it. No scheduled maintenance, and the timing belt was the original, at 170,000 miles. So for it to hold up that long being abused is quite a testiment to Honda.
On another subject, the new owner of my 23 picked it up today. Strangely enough, I really am fine with it. He owns 8 cars already, and it is a compliment that he wants mine for his collection. I guess the fact I had a week to adjust to it being sold helped too.
Here are a couple of pictures of the new owner getting ready to leave for Sarasota. He was heading right for a car show being held there tonight.
The last picture is of Dan before it was picked up. As you can see by his expression, he is not very happy about the T leaving us.

Yeah Paul, I really felt bad for Dan, more than anything. I know he is sad because he thinks I am sad, but I really am ok with this all. He keeps asking me "are you sure you are ok with selling it?" I enjoyed it for 3 years, it was a terrific car in all respects, and now it is time to move on. Dan has promised to help me build a new frame for the 29 RPU after New Years, and I am excited about that car a lot. Plus, the 27 is weeks away from driving it, so why should I be sad?
The new owner is a car guy and a nice guy too, so that makes me happy.

Oh Paul, and I still have that flathead and all the other parts I got from you, so maybe I can still build the replica of this cool little roadster, that I have always liked.

It would be nice if this up and down crap would cease.
