I own what is my 4th 2cnd Gen T/A, i have owned 1st a 1971, 400 4spd ws 6 3.42 posi, white with the blue graphic scheme like the concept; 2cnd, a 1973, also 400 4spd WS6, 3.23 posi, Silver w/ black grey graphics; 1975 also burgundy but no graphics, silver shaker, flares, vents, leather interior, came with 400 Pontiac, replaced with built 71 Stage 1 455 Buick, also 4spd, 3.42 Posi, and finally, my present 1977 455 H.O. 4 spd WS6 T/A, though i have replaced the original Borg Warner Super T10 with a Tremec TKO 600 5spd Manual, 12" Steel Billet Flywheel w/ 11" Center Force Dual Friction Clutch System and a Host of mods to the engine( albeit it remains std bore 455 Pontiac w/ stock/original nodular iron crank n Super Duty Rods, 6H heads) But for the metal removed for the sunroof, the original carb, and exhaust manifolds, i have every numbers matching part to the car stored, includin the stock Bell Houseing, clutch fork, pistons, intake, cam springs and lifters, flywheel n 4spd Trans... as well as the original 3.42 posi and gear set n axles( stock rear houseing, Moser 28 spline axles, Moroso 3 series Brute Strenth posi, w/ Richmond 3.08 gear now in stock housein w/ Competion Engineering C-Clip eliminator kit) stock rear and front springs remain in the car.
All this before SOMEONE claims that no 77 or later Trans Am ever came factory equiped with the 455 of any variety let alone the 455 H.O. that my car came with; the car retains its factory original vin plate w/numbers matching Build plate which indicates the car was produced, finaled, sold, shipped, and delivered between Febuary 9 1977 and Febuary 19, 1977 from an order placed December 10, 1976. FYI: the 1977 Fiscal year at GM began on July 1, 1976, the Production Year began on July 15 1976, both ended on June 30, 1977, this has been the practice at Gm since the 1953 model and production year, the year the Corvette was introduced. Thus any vehicle produced post of June 30 1976 is a 1977, not a 1976.
I have had so many and grown so tired or folk argueing me down about what my car is and what it came with that i have come to challenge anyone to bet me 1k that the car isn't original as i claim, make it worth my while to let em prove it to themselves, put the money where the mouth is; otherwise, think what ya will but keep it to urself. as i say, the original Vin and mumbers matching build plate are yet affixed to the car and the original axle, engine block, crank, rods and heads yet remain in the car, and it IS NOT ERXCEPTIONALLY RARE, there were 398 other that came in 77 with the exact same equipment as mine, 23 of those, like mine were flame red with/bronze/gold/brown graphics n Gold color keyed snow flake wheels( the originals of which i also have in storage) and 28 others were equiped with 455 H.O. AND automatics, and 337 others that came with other variety of 455 Pontiac than the 455 H.O. as well as 301 Formula 455 Firebird Espirit's; THOSE ARE JUST THE F-Body Pontiacs that CAME with 455's in 77 from the factory and there are documented cases of same being sold as late as 1979, in fact, there is 1 other 77 and a 78 T/A here in my city that CAME with 455's. Mine from Royal Oak Pontiac, Royal Oak, Michigan, the other 77 from Delehanty Pontiac, Flint Michigan and the 78 from Superior Pontiac/Cadillac, also in Flint Michigan, additionally i know of at least one other 77 in Detroit Michigan, which like mine is marrked 455 H.O., which makes it one of 28 automatic cars.
As For the concept, the fact that it looks much like a cross tween the 1st(69 only) Gen and 2cnd Gen T/A, has a 455 Cube, tho not Pontiac, Engine, hey what else could a real Pontiac Fanatic ask or hope for in THIS day and Age??!!!!!!! a choice between that and my loving wife whom i love dearly, i'de have to think awhile, they may jus have to take her.....jus kiddin.....
God Bless You and Rest Your Soul John........which obviously remains in ur business post mortem....Last edited by MrWizard455; 12-03-2009 at 08:56 PM.

JL & his operation were always on the cusp of creativity. I never saw or heard of much junk coming out of his shop. What a drag racing legend.

i agree completely REGS, the general auto performance world lost an expert AND and great PERSON when John was lost to us, he was not JUST a bookworm or EDUCATED auto crafter but also a tried n true experienced one willing to help any auto enthusiast in any way he could whenever he could. Its always good to hear or read where someone else also reconizes this fact, i miss John as im sure from ur posts that u do as well....Just like Mickey Thompson n some other greats of the automotive enthusiast world who have gone on before us...Dallas
