Definitely go with the 10' ceiling ht.When you start lifting bodies off the chassis you'll be glad you did. Also if you add a post lift you'll need it.

Ran out of room in my 3 bay barn, adding a 16ft by 24 ft addition with 13ft walls so I can add a lift. While I'm doing this, need to upgrade the electric so I can use a 60watt bulb at the same time as my air compressor..........lol
Here's a few pics of mine... My dad and I built it last year...Only thing we paid someone else to do was the concrete and the initial excavation.
Nice joeybsyc!
Where did you get the workbench???
That place is NOT right........not enough clutter.....& the floors are way to clean.

Wow!!!! Really nice.......Boy is that an understatement.
Thanks... the workbench and rollaway cabinets came from Home Depot last year, they were discontinuing them and i got the whole set as a package... worked out nice, as I was planning on building a workbench into the wall, but this made my life much simpler.
Did you do the floor yourself? What kind of material is it? Do you think it would hold up well using floor jacks & stands?
Yes, I did the floor (and most everything else) myself... Its Armstrong VCT tile, the stuff like you see in Walmart or supermarkets... You gotta have very smooth concrete for it to lay down nicely, and you need to wax it to make it shiny, but its pretty tough... I've been working on my deuce hiboy all winter doing some various "small" projects to it, with no real problems to the floor besides some scuffs... I plan to strip the wax this summer and re-coat it... The worst part about it is the white tile get stained where the tires rest... i didn't realize this til it was too late, but if you are using the white tiles, put something under your tires when the car is parked.
Just about all done :HMMM: Attachment 20753
Any one planning on building a new house, if at all possible, I would suggest a three car garage. You will not be disappointed. Don Meyer is right. We built 10 years ago and even though I have a 30 x 50 two story barn with a lot of car parts I wish I had that third section garage. John
I've been trying to build a shop for two years now, but the neighbours just have to be themselves. They keep rallying the troops to twart my efforts. They even have people sending in mail with objections who don't even qualify to argue my application.
I am applying for a variance in height. I live on a slope with a greater elevation loss than 25% and therfore I qualify for an exemption. This would allow me to build a two story 1350 sq. ft. building.
I've gone to the board twice now and both times they support my application, but in each case I had seven letters of objection. Go figure. I love my neighbours 'bout as much as I love their dogs. lol!
If it wasn't for my neighbors I'd have a great neighborhood!!!
Why is it when YOUR doing something you need the "friendly" neighbor becomes so unfriendley but when they'd like a variance they become sooooo accommodating??
WOW....neighbors.......best of luck on the garage build.

The thing about neighbors who give you trouble is that no one is without sin, so when they screw up it becomes payback time. I at one time had neighbors who would call code enforcement all the time on us for working on cars in our own garage. So I got the code book (about an inch thick) and everytime they would break some code I was on the phone.......and I didn't do it anonymously, I WANTED THEM TO KNOW WHO DID IT. :D :D I would then politely as the neighbor " how does it feel? Every time you do something wrong I am going to have them coming to YOUR door !" :D :D It didn't take long for them to start leaving us alone.
Don
you people got some awsome garages , i need to get busy over here yall's make mine look like a hobo dump:D
