We're leaving about the same time Thursday Bill. Should be in by 5 or so, and are staying at the same Ramada you are , so we might see you sooner.
One thing, we are all going to save some money on gas this year. If someone would have told me in July that I would be paying $ 1.78 like I did last night, I wouldn't have believed it. Not complaining, mind you.
Hope everyone going has a safe trip.

I'll be at the Speedway during the day on Friday, mostly in the swap meet looking for stuff for my roadster. Then I'll be back Saturday evening for the gathering outside turn 4 like last year. I'm not sure what I'll be driving or riding in Friday (I may come up with friends), but I'll be in my coupe Saturday night. Hope to see you all there...Jim

Don, do you still have my cell number
BradCSome days it's not even worth chewing thru the restraints !

No, but it wouldn't help, my cell has dead zones everyplace in the world except in Ft Myers. Guess one of these days I should actually buy a phone plan that works, but I use it so infrequently.
We are at the Ramada across from the track, so if you come by there or the event at track 4 we can hook up for sure. See you there.

Don,
I don't know if that event runs both nights. Last year was the first time I went to it. That was Saturday, right?
By the way, I tried to send you my cell and home numbers just in case you run into someone with a phone that works, but it was kicked back saying your PM box is full...Jim

Ok, I just cleaned out my mailbox...........sorry.
I can't remember if it was Saturday or Friday either. Aren't they doing that all the nights of the event in an effort to move the activities away from Belaire Plaza? Last year the merchants of the Plaza were trying to stop the cars from parking there, but at the last minute changed their minds.

Ironically, the BelAire plaza is where I attended my first Turkey Run in 1981. After that it moved to Seabreeze High School for a few years. When they outgrew the high school grounds, it moved to Daytona Beach Community College near the airport. Finally, the Turkey Run moved to the infield of the speedway in about '89 or '90.
Hey Don, maybe you should buy a Trac-Phone. They're available at Walmart, Lowe's, and most convenience stores. They're fairly cheap and no contract to sign into. You buy the phone with pre-paid minutes and they work almost everywhere. They're good to have with you when traveling in case you have trouble. When you use up the minutes you can buy more phone time at anyplace that sells the phones. Just a thought...
Don & Bill - I PM'd you both with my phone numbers... See you in Daytona!Jim

Now that you mention it we might have gone to our first TR at the high school, not a Church. It would have been in about 1985.
My phone is on Metro PCS, and they are getting better, but the coverage is limited. When I went to Atlanta a few months ago I lost signal above Tampa. But I hardly go out of this area and only use it to call Dan or Don, so it is fine for me generally. It is times like this that it becomes a problem. Dan was just saying he heard they extended their coverage to the Daytona area, so we will see. I was in Lauderdale this week and it worked from there, so maybe........
Almost ready to head out the door. The U Haul car trailer is sitting at the shop so we have to load Don's T onto it, uncover my T, and hit the road. The three of us REALLY need this weekend. We've all been putting in some long weeks at work and I've had some goofy stuff going on at my job (but it turned out fine ) so there are some cold beers, lots of food, and hopefully some new car parts in our immediate future. Looking forward to seeing all of you that are going. Have a safe trip guys.

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
