I did the online quote for our 31 and Mustang. Seperately my 31 insured at $35,000 was $222.50 a year. The Mustang insured for $10,000 was $95.Quote:

The only thing I didn't like is that they do not let you pay monthly, which I guess I can get over.
I have been using Classic. Grundy appears to limit driving to organized shows, cruises, etc. Classic allows pleasure driving for whatever reason. They're a little more, but I think I have more freedom to drive where I want.
This is from Grundy's FAQ page:Quote:

Unlimited - The Grundy Family owns cars dating back to 1909, and recognizes that an attempt to monitor or audit mileage would be nearly impossible. In addition, the Grundy's personally drive thousands of miles a year in organized touring events and simply enjoying and maintaining their cars. You can too!
AND..................
No Mileage Limitations
This policy authorizes unlimited hobby use of your collector vehicle in collector activities, exhibits and parades. While participating in these events, owners are free to enjoy their collector vehicle without monitoring the odometer
Yes, I was going to say it but Youther beat me to it. Grundy DOESN'T restrict mileage.

Pat
Youther,
I didn't say that Grundy limited mileage. Superior does, but I'll never drive the limit.
This was my concern:
Classic allows pleasure driving without those limitations.Quote:

I'm not saying that Grundy would fail to pay if you were just taking a cruise in the country by yourself, but it sure looks like they could.
DANG! Am I the only one that uses Parish and Heacock?

Please let me know if there is something I should know. They do stated, agreeed value around $25,000, no deductible, 3,000 miles limit per year for about $280.
I have always seen theire ads in Good Guy Gazette and been with them for about 6 years. No claims.
buc, I'm sure it's unintentional, but you've mixed opposite result terms. For the sake of future readers I think it's important to make the distinction. A Stated Value policy is not the same as an Agreed Value policy. Both are similar in that the policy holder and insurer negotiate the value of the policy. The difference will come when/if there is a claim. In a Stated Value policy the initial valuation is subject to depreciation, so say a vehicle is insured at policy initiation for $10k, if a total loss claim is done say two years later, the insurer could depreciate the value of the pay out to some determination it calculates, say only pay $8k. In an Agreed Value policy the total loss would result in a payment of the full initial agreed valuation (less deductible, and/or any salvage value the owner would choose to retain).
When I called in my claim to Grundy, all they were interested in was where it happened & was anyone hurt. Never asked me where I was going or if the drive was car event related. I was pretty much a wreck on the phone & she was literally an angel in my time of need. She told me it was their goal to have the car back to me in the same if not better condition than before the accident. The toppper was I could take it to any hot rod shop I wanted to. Didn't matter what their shop rate was- as long as I felt comfortable & confident w/ the work.Quote:

I have not filed a claim with Grundy, but did with Hagerty. They sent out an adjuster, who agreed with the cost of repair and issued a check. They did ask questions as to how it occurred (single car accident) but there was no big discussion or issues. They don't care who repairs your vehicle as long as it is repaired to the insured condition.
I had insurance a few years back with a company that had mileage restrictions, but never once asked me to document my mileage. Their limits were fair and I never exceeded them, and due to their limits their rates were reasonable at first, but then started to jump up. Grundy's rates have only gone up when the insured value went up, and even then it has been a small increase. I would imagine if you were accident prone they might take bigger leaps.
Another thing that may impact some here, not me of course, Grundy will not insure a car owned or driven by anyone under the age of 25. Matter of fact, if you have a child under that age, they will not cover them in an accident even if you give the child permission to use the car. Hagerty, on the other hand, will cover the vehicle if the policy holder gives permission to a family member to drive the vehicle.
This might be a consideration if anyone has any "under age" drivers in your family. Pisses my daughter off, she is 20 and not allowed to drive either of my cars.

They wanted assurance that there was a daily driver car for every driver in my household so that it was clear the collector would not be relied on for such usage. One of these days I plan to drive mine across country, just for the fun of it. I will certainly confer with them before doing that in cse I need to make adjustments to my coverage.Quote:

Pat
Pat,
When you make that trip let me know, I have always wanted to do that too.
That is if you don't mind someone following you all over the place
Ken
Ken, if you and Pat make it to the Tampa Bay area, dinner is on me.
Mike
Mike, I hadn't notice that you are from Lutz. I have relatives and friends (all rodders) in Tampa, Land of Lakes, Dade City, and a few in your neighborhood. I plan on being down that way in November for some turkey and the turkey run.
