Here is a job about to go out. Stayed with a classic shape, but added an inverted 3D effect. More pictures when it's done.

WOW that is so beautiful. wished i lived closer to you to get you to do a lightning job on the monte. all the ones i have looked at look like tree branches. you are so very talented!
Thanks for the kind words. It's more about determination and practice, than raw talent.
I see young guys starting out that have much more natural artisitic ability than I had. It's just that if you practice something for 40 years, you are bound to improve. :-)
I'm very impressed. Most unusual and beautiful to look at.
Extremely nice work-there is only one serious problem with it -it's not on my Car!
Thanks. I had done his new Toyota truck in this 3D style, and his wife liked it enough to go on the new roadster. It has Kameleon inside the flames, but this low on the body, it will only show up occasionally,
Great looking flames, i like em!! If i ever win the lottery your gonna be on speed dial!
Just drop it in a box, and mail it! LOL!Quote:

I am hoping someday to find time to take a photoshop class. I'm still doing design drawings with drafting pens, and colored pencils! :-(Quote:

You get my pm yesterday about the boat painting???
Thanks. What you can't see, until I get better pictures outside, is the Kameleon inside the flames. Here is a picture of his truck, which I did a couple years ago.
No. Can you send it again?Quote:

Jay, I need to start getting up to Tucson a bit more and hopefully see some of your work in person. Talented folks like you blow me away (I have a hard enough time just doing a two tone).
Mike, Anytime you are coming, just let me know, and if I can break away at all, I'd be glad to visit. If it doesn't work out, I'll see you at SIR sometime, for sure!
It is not a glamorous business, until you are standing in the middle of a car show! The rest is dust, fumes, and sore fingers. You've just got to be a masochist.......but you paint, so you already knew that! :-)
They really have a 3D look to them. They look like they have been carved in the metal. As always awesome work!
I've never seen the 3D work so effectively! Flames look to have eaten the body away! Fantastic job.
Thanks, guys. It is not my original idea, but I'll take credit for "executing the job". :-)
It occured to me a few years ago that I am very tired of seeing the same exact art on cars, for the last 50 years.
I believe that you can keep the same traditional designs, but add something to make it have a unique "twist", which will make people remember it longer.
Hotrodpaint---That looks very impressive. You are a talented painter.---Brian
Thats really slick....I'm liking it. Keep up the good work. Bob
If I get enough compliments, I'll have to raise prices! :-)
S-U-Perb!! That 3D effect is very striking; great work.:toocool:
Here's the finished product. The Kameleon lights up when the light angle is right.
Very nice work! I don't see the cameleon but, I like what I do see. How much time went into this? Keep posting, Steve.:D
It took about 50 manhours, but on TV they can do it in under 60 minutes! :-)
No question about the man hours. That reeks of one helluva lot of time and patience. One of the sweetest flame jobs I have seen.
Extreme Work!! Great. I wish for a job like it (when I win the lottery). perley
WOW, that looks great HOTRODPAINT. How far is Tuscon from Salt Lake?
'Bout 800 miles! I drove it once. :-)
That's an amazing illusion. I'll bet people stop and do a double take when they walk by.
Tom
Do you have a clear picture of the hidden cameleon? I'd love to see it!:whacked:
I don't have any more pictures of the car right now. The problem on this one is that reflective paints do not show up as often, when they are low on the sides. This was his choice, so we did a similar concept to his truck on page two. (remember it is higher on the body.)
On page one is the guys truck, with the same Kameleon, and on page two is a picture of some purple showing.
The way I learned about the lower body not getting as much light, was a white Corvette, with red & blue pearl stars on it, that I did about 1980. People would ask why we used them on the hood, but not on the sides of the car? I had to tell them "they are there, you just can't see them". :-(
HOTRODPAINT:
You are one SUPER DUPER TALENTED ARTIST !!!
Great execution !!!

I likey, keep up the good work. I am going to have to use the reverse shadow idea on my tribal flames. And since were on the subject of flames here is a quick pic of a 36 ford cabrio that I am fiinishing up right now.

Cost might be a factor in the true flames....LOL! Aren't they a lot more expensive?
I haven't done enough to really compare manhours. My guess would be "slightly more"....maybe 25%....for trufire. Spray time is more, but layout and masking would be less. So far (for my customers) it has been more of a personal preferrence for style, than cost. Anyone else compare hours?Quote:
