Got some new pictures. Thought I would try all this again.
Started at the begining since all were lost before.
I started 2 years ago. Starting to make notable progress.
So here some more.
Thats some great progress. The car is going to be sweet.
Wow, what a transformation. :) You are doing a really super job on the whole car, and I love the color.
Don
What I really like about your build pix, is seeing how much time and effort you have put into making this a truly great ride. You have done a terrific job with everything, not missing any detail. I know this from the pix plus you're using the same wire ties that I have. That's a sign of pure class.
Looks great, keep posting those pix.
Thanks guys. This is my first rod. I've built race cars before. Helped build a few complete rods. I've even done several upholstery jobs. I'm trying to do as good a job as I've done for others.
looks great i like the colors on the vette in the backround to
Here's a look at Febuarys progress.
Starting to beleive I will make Louisville this year.
The car is really coming along great! Going to be way kewl when you get it done!
Looking really good, a lot of attention to detail.
i'm in the process of doing a 47 sedan delivery, would you have any pic's of when you were doing the rocker boxes and floors ?
tks
joe
No pics of of floor repair cause there was none to do. The bottom of one rocker box got replaced behind the door on passenger side. We used a prefab piece dad had left over from his 40 model rocker repair panels. Bead rolled it to match the other side. It was a good fit without much modification.

Looks good!
Did you buy an insulation package for the roof, floor, and firewall or did you just buy the material separately
Bob
WOW! How many hours a day are you spending on the car?! That car is just flowing together like butter in a very short time, and since you'll be done in a week, can you do my headliner in my 48 chevy?
Very nice ford, looking good and clean. Your doing a fantastic job.
I know its wrong, but yes I AM JEALOUS!!
It just seems to be comming together quick. 2 years of gathering and fitting parts is all paying off now. I only get 10 - 12 hours a week in on it but Dad is retired now and he works on it between coffee breaks.
Clover, the insulation we purchase in a roll. Soon as I get a chance I will get the name of the stuff and the company that makes it. I remember it's made in Pennsulvania and only one place in the WV sells it, but they do have a web site.
Signman you & your dad are doing top notch work on your coupe. I missed out on getting a cherry one of those a few years back and I've always loved their look. Whose wiring panel did you use and how long time wise do you think it will take to completely wire your coupe if you were able to do it non stop? I'm just curious because I'm going to be doing wiring shortly. Like Clover I will be curious to find out the name of your insulation, possibly their website, and you feedback about how well it sticks in place plus the thickness of it.
Thanks for he follow up pix! Looks like you will be at Lou'ville this year.:D
All right, I finally picked up the info on Low E insulation. The web site is http://www.low-e.com. It is 1/4 inch thick. The web site tells all about it.
One roll is more than needed to do a car. We use Liquid Nail, some equivalant or DAP heavy duty contact cement (comes in 5 gal can) and spray it with a spray gun. We always use Liquid Nail type stuff if there is a chance of over spraying contact cement.
StylingZ, The wiring harness is a 22 circuit I bought at the best price I could find on Ebay. Something like $125.oo to my door at the time. The basic wiring could be done in 8-10 hours. We'll have more than that in it due to stereo, shaved handle remotes, cruise control and semi trick courtesy lights .
Thanks for the insulation info. I will phone them Monday and see if they have any Canadian distributors.

Did you try the dealer locator thats in the top left corner of the web site.

I'm guessing it would probably take a 2 or 3 rolls that size to completely do a sedan. Is it any cheaper to go thru the dealer to get it? When you use the Liquid Nail, do you spread it out for solid adhesive coverage?
The rolls from the dealer I use is 4'x125'. I think that much is around $160.oo.
That much will do 2-3 cars depending on size of the car.
We run the Liquid Nail around the parimeter and make an X in the middle.
Signman:
The one and only Canadian source quoted me a price of $200 plus $50 shipping plus tax for a roll 4 feet by 125 feet.
The ebay seller quoted me a price of $90 plus $15 shipping plus tax for a roll 4 feet by 50 feet.
Do you think 50 feet is enough for a 1947 chevy 2 door sedan (ceiling floor ,doors and firewall)?
Thanks
yes 4'x50' should do it no problem including the trunk.
Ok March is over with. Here's progress pics
A few more.
Nice work!! VERY NICE!!
Today got the accelerator in and hooked up. Carpet all done and the console is about ready to be covered.
Man I'm getting all excited. Won't be to much longer before I start making test runs.
Signman, Very nice shots of everything. I did the same w/the firewall in my 48 Plym, but I had to weld and tack everything. No bender or brake! But I like how it turned out. Keep up that head of steam and the progress will be happening. I'm in the same boat, but am settling for under construction class this year. Hopefully mine will be out of the garage in a week or two.
Thanx for sharing Bryan
Looking good, that ought to keep the weather out.
Hey Signman, where did you get your doorpanels?
We made those. I said we, but Dad did those while I was at work.
They are one of the reasons I think of my car as a Rat Rod. They are made of aluminum salvaged from a rolled enclosed trailer, landau top foam, armrests cut from a 2x10 and flat black vinyl and look very cool if I say so myself.
Very cool, indeed. I'd have swore they were manufactured. Maybe I'll take a shot at some myself.
How did I miss a thread by somebody named 'signman'?? Very nice progress! That is nice looking coupe - you guys are doing very well.
Thanks Signshop.
Two steps forward and three backward this weekend. I think every little thing I did this weekend had to be done twice. AAAAAAAAAAArrgh.
Not much to show for a month's progress. Even so a lot got done that you can't see.
